PR Startup Hanging

This is a terrible first post, but here goes.

In a thread titled 'reality mod crashes to desktop'... this is hidden inside.

Everytime I try to login in and establish connection PR freezes. I guess it freezes because it just stays locked on the establishing connection page. It doesn't crash, it just doesn't do anything. Any thoughts? Much appreciated. Cheers- {PR}ShiftyEYE

I have the exact same problem. It did not happen until today. I'd had 0 problems with PR. I had played .86 with no problems. I've checked port forwarding. I've reinstalled everything once. My graphics card drivers are up to date. I'm lost. : Any ?

Its not really pr related, was playing prsp on an old pr, its on EA's side, infact, its starting to fix itself, just got into pr, just let it hang like its doing for a min or 2, it will go through.

Could it be related to the latest EA download manager program. I didn't experience problems until adding Merc 2 for pc, which came with the EA download manager program to keep MERC updated.

One thing it could be, I told this to Fuzz earlier who had a similar problem..

Go into your my documents folder [or whatever it is in windows 7]

My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

Inside each user profile [0001, 0002, etc] is a general.con file
Open it and you'll see something like this:

What happens, or so Im told, is that when you play for a long time on an account, those lines build up. Each time you connect, those servers get checked/added to a list before it lets you into the menu.

When the list becomes long, it hits dead servers, distant servers, slow servers, etc. Adding up to take a long time to log in..

Not 100% but it DID work for me some time ago. As you can see, my list is very short since i just reformatted a week ago, but before I had to do the same...

Yer, Im with Okita on this, I delete my BF2 folder in my documents quite alot to cut down on this stuff.

This worked. Problem disappeared after 1-2 hours. Strange but solved?! Thanks for all of your replies.
