Aiming

Post by Ccharge »

Well, couldn't find something on this.

The suggestion is, is to (if its not hard coded) make it so that when you aim your weapon that its makes your aim less sensitive. It makes me mad when i cant hit something with a ironsights rifle because i cant get the sight right on my target (this being a far away person behind cover etc)
if you miss him... try, try again

this is a pretty common problem actually.
the cause is the discrepancy between your mouse set sensitivity and the bf2 set sensitivity.

if your mouse sensitivity is low, it measures a small amount of movement (basically the smalles move you can make). bf2 measures a large amount of movement (since the sens is high). this means a small move on your mouse will cause a larger movement of your aimpoint.

an easy fix (if you have a mouse on which you can set the sensitivity), is to set the mouse sensitivity very high and drop the ingame sensitivity to as low as you feel comfortable with, this should fix the problem. it did for me in bf2 and bf2142

if you don't have a mouse with changeable sensitivity, try increasing the windows mouse sensitivity and drop the bf2 sensitivity as low as possible.

People also argue that is the Vista/XP default USB polling rate enough for gaming.
With default setting your mouse will generate 8 more ping right there and will look like it's jumping over pixels when moving really slowly.

In XP it's easy to change if your mouse supports it, but in Vista you have to do all kinds of "HC stuff" to put it where it can be.
For example Logitech MX 510 can do up to 800dpi but vista will take it down to 125dpi (some say it's close to 8 ping)

Changing this setting is easy with some mouses that have it built in the mouse, but not impossible for normal computergeeks with older hardware :)

Sometimes i get that problem, but it rarely happens so its not a problem. If it is a big problem for you then just reduce the sensitivity its a simple solution...
