a sound notification might be a good idea if possible, ie, for a MG you would have a sound of getting on the gun and getting it ready for action and for a tank you could have maybe some electronic/mechanical sound and finally a "up" from the reloader or something when its ready.

Thou I dunno how possible this is for a vehicle.

It'd be awesome to get some audio clues on the time left to warmup. Perhaps some hydraulics pressurizing or something?
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

I think helicopters do something to this effect, or is it completely different?

putting the sound in is the easy part. The question is, is it possible to trigger? We can only work with the sound trigger BF2 provides us with which aint a lot...

ye, perhaps. Need to see what a sound coder thinks.

There already is an audible clue in armor; the sound of the round going in and the breach closing. Another clue is the fact that your double zoom will only be available after the barrel (or ATGM) is ready.

Yeah with the ammo guy going "up"? or something? That was pretty good and it shouldn't be too hard to implement

What about, note using this as an example not the sound, a windows start up. So you just get like an electric sound come through, or that usual humming you hear starts up when the gun is ready?

Not a bad idea at all. Could work with tanks. Maybe for a helicopter after the full 30 seconds you could hear a guy say "you are clear for takeoff" but make it sound like hes talking over the radio.
if you miss him... try, try again

IMO ( :D I'm using txt speech!!) the helicopters don't need an audio cue for when their engines are warmed up because you can hear the change of the sounds of the blades and engine.

Do you know how many less choppers would be wasted for nooblets that don't know about the rotors? Just that simple audio would pop up after a while and they would realize "oh, okay!"

Celestial that point you made is invalid. The problem with people not knowing about warm up times happens before the engine is warmed up, not because they wait too long.

I have had [R-DEV]egor looking at a generic HUD, for Turrets, planes and Helo's.

Like RL, the preflight checks take some time, which is what we are doing here with the wait time, like wise with Gun Systems.

egor is looking at creating a HUD, that will have a system of lights that over the 30 sec period, will change from red to green in sequence.

i think that this is a great idea. IRL something like this is used for most military, and a lot of civilian hardware.
