my PC:what FPS should i get in PR?

Post by andrewthecool »

Hi, i just built my first gaming PC, and just wondering some little things...

what FPS should i be getting on crysis, but more importantly PR?

computer specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E8400 3.0ghz on stock cooling
Motherboard: EVGA SLI FTW motherboard
RAM: OCZ fatal1ty edition 1066mhz 4GB kit, running at 800mhz(its defaulted at 800mhz, to lazy to fiddle around in bios to get it to 1066mhz)
Graphics card: BFG tech GTX 260 core 216(i need a overclocking utility for this, links if possible)
PSU: OCZ stealthXstream 700W PSU
screen: some Acer 19inch LCD
case: apevia

You should not have too many problems running Crysis on all Very High, although this does depend on resolution.

As for PR, should be maxed out all the time, although some maps have bad areas on them that cause drop in fps, but that should stay well above 50 - 60 fps, not a lot you can do about that really.

As for an overclocking tool for your GPU, get RivaTuner v2.24 download from Guru3D.com and that will help you out loads.

Rivatuner is a great tool, but I use EVGA | EVGA Precision | EVGA Precision but I also have EVGA cards, not sure if it will work on BFG but worth a shot.

FPS wise, you will get the max FPS that PR will allow, just dont compare it to the FPS you get in other games.

And if you plan on OC your system, which it will nicely, change out the stock CPU cooler first.

BTW... NICE RIG!!!

hmmm, i get bad FPS on they crysis demo on all very high settings....
and i can get as low as 30FPS(not common but still)
is this because i have AA at 8X? or because vista is such a hog?

if/when i overclock, i whould remove my motherboard to put in a new cpu and heatsink, not leave the e8400 in there
quad core ftw

Nice rig.

+1 for eVGA precision, it's simple, easy to use and powerful.

It will work on any nVidia card, not just eVGA ones.

Nah, the thing about Crysis is you have to have the patch, it clears all that **** up nicely, it won't work on the demo tho.

As for overclocking, check this forum out, learn as much as you can about it before you do it, I bet others have the same components and might even list their specs to copy. These guys saved my arse more than once, trust me.

And I hope you're using Vista 64bit!!!

vista 64 bit win :D

yea i used evga tuner, found some stats on the newegg listing site, gave my crysis demo a bit of a FPS increase.
might get crysis as a present to myself :D

and on the PR matter, ile turn AA down a notch. I dont see how AA can be such a big deal lol...

AA helps, I set mine at 4, but 2 looks just as good in PR. Game looks like a bad version of PitFall (1980ish) without it on.
