MD5Tool Mismatch: mods\pr\pr.exe (len=2048) Error

MD5 if difficult to cure usually ends up in you having to reinstall the game buddy.

I've been getting MD5Tool Mismatch: mods\pr\pr.exe ( len=2048 ) Punkbuster error on one or two servers after 30 mins of gameplay or less. This is very annoying, and difficult to understand. I've tried googling the error code, but all of them come up with the Shader client error, which I do not have.

If anyone has a fix for this specific error code. I would appreciate it. This only happens on a few servers, but the ones which are my favorite to play on. I do know I can play other servers, but this doesn't stop the fact that the error will still exist.

Note* I did update punkbuster files using pbsetup, all files are up to date.

The cause of this is that it thinks the pr.exe you have is different to the server MD5. Only reason I can think that this is , is that either you or the server are running one of the older versions that were used for testing ?

Either that , or as Robbi says there has been some corruption during downloading or installation (but that would be strange as theoretically you wouldn't be able to play).

The only other possibility is that you have a virus and it has written information into the file and changed its size/signature and therefore MD5 hash. Give your system a good clean and sweep (and in particular check the pr.exe for infections).

I'm getting the same error, and I really, really, really don't want to reinstall BF2. This is kind of ridiculous to buy a game and be forced to troubleshoot our machines because of an error with the game.
