yea I think that is a good tweak for Qinling cause atm the soldiers are way too dark looking.

The SimpleShadowmap.raw and SimpleShadowmapio.raw are also another factor.
But if i remember correctly DICE took away there ability to function after an earlier patch because either they were buggy and/or added too much lag.
FYI, the dimensions of a groundhemi can be small, too, like say 8x8.
Just depends on how much detail you want and if it is really worth the memory 'cost'.

the SimpleShadowmap.raw and SimpleShadowmapio.raw have always been a huge confusion for me. No one really knows how to get them to work or how they really excatly work. Even the vBF2 maps have cut short on them.
From my basic understand what they do is provide low gfx users with some type of shadow on vehicles etc as a substitute for dynamic shadows. In the end after spending god knows how long trying to get them to work I gave up on them as they where only for low gfx users and did very little...
and ye the default groundhemi is 8x8 but its simply blank, there is no reason why you can't manually make it large or smaller just like any other texture. Providing its a power of 2 and not larger than 2048x2048 it should work fine.

I would also like the terrain texture in a higher quality.The archer terrain isnt good at all.I like the one on west fallujah though.

Is the groundhemi texture part of the reason that all the players weren't shaded enough on the old night maps and kinda glowed?

makin night maps, all the stuff was pretty easy to see, so I modified the groundhemi (I'm a n00b didn't know about this) and now its actually dark
