replace m249 & rpk with m240/PKM

Post by twisted »

PRMM gets more fun the more people play.

but the LMG's need a bit more balancing.

instaprone is part of the problem.

so is the insta-accuracy immidiatley after running. i have watched the videos of people using the m249 and they either walk with the weapon up and sighted (and hey walk very slow) or they fire from the hip. either way it takes time to get the weapon in place - not the instant accuracy as right now. currently people go prone behind stair pop up for split second with m249 and fire a burst and go down. looks like damn rabbits on speed.

note i am talking about standing, crouching and prone needing a SETTLING time when changing stance for support. sorta like snipers have bad accuracy until the weapon has settled. so if you go crouched you need to balance the weapon before being as accurate as currently.

i am not talking about making the weapons less accurate - just making them take a bit longer to get as accuarate as they are now. less twitchy uber weapon and more tactically deployed weapon.

PLUS is it possible to make LMG's move slower. i'm talking about the weapon's movement speed? to replicate the realative heaviness of the weapon.

now back to the title of the post. if the above are not possible then why not replace the m249/rpk/chines lmg with the pkm or m240 (for US of course)? these weapon are made to be deployed prone and are damn hard to handle otherwise. of course the insta prone problem would still persist and need to be fixed..

The insta prone problem is being worked on so there is no need to replace any of the MG's currently in the game.

Trogdor is probally tired of having to say that everytime it is mentioned... Sucks for you man haha. Thats why I wanna be an R-PUB, so I can help you. I gotta talk to maverick again about it though. Anyways, those weapons are pretty cool, but the devs are pretty busy as you can tell, so you should just make a thread about all the weapons you want ingame... I wouldnt mind asking for a few I want ingame too.

When you're asking for weapons this is a realism mod also that most new weapons for factions already in game won't be added until after 1.0. Also dylan R-PUBing is hard work.

i appreciate you are sick to death of instaprone. i was bringing up another element to LMG's that could be looked at.

While we're on the subject of LMGs when is the 45 round mag coming for the RPK-74?
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I think they really need a C-Mag or else they're not really support gunners. I think if the MEC as a professional army chose their support weapon of choice to be the RPK-74 it doesn't seem unrealistic that they'd place an order on C-Mags instead of the classic Russian 45s.

The M240B/G, L7 GPMG and PKM will probably appear in the mod later, but they will not replace the squad automatics. They will be in different kits.

The 5.45mm cartridge never really caught on outside the former Warsaw Pact; most of the Mid East states that used the Kalashnikov family of weapons license produce(d) their own rifles and 7.62 x 39mm ammunition. The regular RPK with a 75 round drum would be a more realistic choice.
