PB error. Corrupted file/memory

Hey guys, sorry if the fix for this has been posted before I tried to look for the fix on the forums but couldin't find anything. So, I can load a server okay and once I'm in a server for about 2-5 minutes, I get kicked with a punk buster error "Corrupted/file memory". I have re installed BF2 with two different sets of discs, re downloaded the 1.41 patch twice and tried it. But I can't seem to shake it. Any tips or fixes would be helpful, thanks!

rename or delete this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2

Make sure you turn all unnecessary apps running in the background.


Some virtual drives emulators might cause this problem AFAIK.

I tried deleting my battle field 2 folder, that did not work. I guess I'll try running less programs maybe. Any other ideas?

Scan your PC for malware (use NOD32 or Kaspersky for viruses and Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad-Aware for spyware).


When did the problem start BTW?

Did you have it ever since you bought BF2?
If not then what has changed (SW or HW wise) before it stopped working?

I have played PR on and off for awhile, and recently I have gotten a craving to play when I saw .85 released. So I installed BF2 and PR and just started getting this error, has never happened before. I have been plagued by different PB errors before, but usually it was okay. This time, I can't play at all. I will try scanning my computer now, thanks.

I tried a scan and deleted spyware/adware and then ran it and still recieved the error. This really sucks, I might try re downloading each part of PR and re install them and then see. If that doesint work, then it could be my RAM.

I doubt it's corrupted PR install.


You could try to run a memtest for the RAM.

i have this problem too(maybe because im running vith vista and have only 1.5gb ram)

Running Vista with so few Gigs of RAM is a bad idea, but shouldn't get you kicked by PB.

I have 2 gb's of RAM running on XP. I have suspected it might be my RAM for some time now, but have just been putting off checking it in hopes it was something else. I suppose I will run mem tests after I get back from work today.

I have reinstalled the bf2 and PR,but not cracked the game,running with orig. dvd and pb now doesnt kick me(maybe use miniimage instead of crack?)

If you use cracked exe don't be surprised you get kicked...

I too am having this issue, and realistically only after entering the PR shortcut Taget mod for the Widescreen Version... i have fixed my "squad Selection" crash by turning by Textures to medium, i learnt that from a few BD boys yesterday, but with regards to the mem kick, i have great OC'd ram and memtested all the time, i have no issue, if i were to.... do you think i could play Farcry 2 ?? coz it works great as always,

Well when I had this error, I turned my xfire off and no problems have occured since then (Touchwood). So try that

As far as i know, Tools which put any OVERLAY into your game might cause this Problem.
Some examples are:

Fraps!!!!
X-Fire
Teamspeak overlay plugin
Outlook

On the Fraps one it helps to get the newest version of Fraps.
On the others maybe it also helps to get a newer version if not leave them turned off.

i have found a way for fix it(worket form me)
okey he it is:
1. go to punkbusters homeside(PunkBuster Online Countermeasures)
2. go to battelfield2(one the list)(PunkBuster Online Countermeasures)
3. go to software updates(PunkBuster Online Countermeasures)
4. download the . PBSetup
5. instal the prgram and find battlefield2 at the list of games and press update
(The following files are only needed if your PunkBuster doesn't update by itself. Right click the appropriate links below and choose "save as" to your "pb\htm" folder - make sure the file you save is saved with the filename shown below. Players only need the files that correspond to their Operating System, Server Admins need all six files. )

(if it dosnt work make a text doc in PB file in bf2. go in here For
Players Filename: pbsec.htm(name it pbsec)

and if you use a crack you have to copy the original startup file to the folder.

Thank you very much, I updated PB from that website and it worked like a charm.
