Allrighty! Got my flags done. 14 in total. Some are simple, other not so simple =P

Anyway... I hope one of these gets close to what you expect as the ARF flag:

Well basically the OGG is now not longer under development by the french forces community modders. They will have to concentrate on the French Faction and to get it ingame.

The faction is going to be an opfor faction for any faction who wants to have it as opfor hehe.

The ARF will be on the whole african continent. A story will be created soon.

I would like to see the ARF being somehow with the PLA somehow.

As I understand, China has large interest in West African oil and diamonds so these are potential staging grounds for conflict. E.g, the ARF have seized control of these mineral mining facilities as they believe "they belong to people of Africa!" (Im sure the ARF leaders would pocket it themselves though).
However, I cant see the ARF standing up very well the Chinese Army. Hmm....

My vote goes for this one. Seems like a flag of a Pan-African Union, rather than a insurgent group.

A faction with the entire Africa do not fit, this continent is destroyed by wars since the begining of the world, they are all fighting against each others, I spent a lot of time in Africa in my life and North africa (Maghreb) allied to middle africa just seems crazy, They would certainly never fight together. You should concentrate on one side of africa instead of the entire continent.
And an English name? Why? Africa is principally french-speaking.
And I agree with Mongol about China, they are numerous there, at least in middle Africa

I really don't like this idea. How can you make a coalition with 1 billion of people, and a continent who mades 3 times (i don't think it's the good word!?) the size of the USA or Europe ?

I can't imagine the same thing for Europe. Abstract africa in one coalition is not realistic.

But you can change easily the name, something like that "freedom fighters". And the background will takes place in somalia, Ethiopia, Liberia, and more...

You make a very good point, but since we already have MEC it's nothing out of the ordinary for PR.

How realistic is MEC you think? Exactly it's same as realistic as a untied Africa. It will be the whole continent. There is no real room for discussion about that tbh.

It's a imaginary faction, I can only repeat it. The more conventional ARF army will be able to compete with every other bluefor faction ingame. They have shitloads of gear IRL too, the only problem IRL would be the coordination and that they would not be united but PR is a game and we need a opfor faction. A opfor faction which is not again just for asymmetric warfarer but also for conventional warfare.

Thats what the ARF is about. WRT Flags I like this one too. Let's wait for Nosferatus opinion on that one.

MEC was an error made by Dice, not PR, don't do the same mistake. You can create an african army, but who doesn't represent all the continent.

Why doesn't make a generic army, with some differents flags who represent different part of Africa ? That could be a nicest idea. For example : France vs OGG, Brits vs South Africa, USA vs Somalia. The only thing who changes it's the flag and the name. Not the weapon, gears, vehicles.

Now honestly why would we do that? If it's the same army (equipment) but only with different flags then where is the point? We'd have to make multiple skins boosting up the download sizes for something totally unnecessary.

The whole point is in having a totally new area to fight. We have Asia already, we have more than enough middle east and now we will get africa as a whole.

There is no need for other flags or names and EA did no mistake by making that faction it was a smart move if you sit back and think about it.

Yeah, ok, I agree, but it's really big to imagine Kadafi and Boutefika together with the famous Hutu Tutsi coalition against blufor. With maybe Touareg and Afrikaneers who fight hapilly together. We just think the background isn't correctly use. Nethertheless, we cannot make all african coutries. That's why we created something as the OGG, in order to respect african problems and create map with desert and rain forest. Indeed South Africa offers bush map (bush?).

We are really happy to see that faction becoming a new faction, that's our baby who grown, and it will accelerate our work, because a communauty will grow and new static for african map will be done (and that's not easy at all!). What's more we shall share our experience with you, and all the static we have already done. We enjoy it! Just that problem of background, because we have spoken about it months and we see that you make it so, in one day, it's not easy for us ^^'

Multiple African factions with Different flags, skins and in some cases equipment would be better IMO....I remember at one point someone wanted to make a DRC faction and the french developers proposed a merge with OGG and they refused as they wanted to make it more unique.

Well... the idea of a united africa IRL is obviously unrealistic. There are plenty of reason why different african tribes attempt to kill each other in the most gruesome ways.

However it could very well be an organization or an emerging super-power attempting to take control over all of africa. Not that it's gonna happen real soon but it's more realistic an organization/country attemtpting to take over a big portion of territory (In this case africa) disregarding what the different tribes and peoples think about it. It doesn't have to be necessarily a super-guerrilla present all over the continent and made up of previous real-life militant organizations you know

And hell... It's just a game. Whetter there's a background story or not only matters in games out there for sale. Here in PR the Devs can go as wild as they want. (PS: My suggestion of Switzerland invading the UK still stands btw).
If it's just to add the "random" african guerrila force I think it's ok.

I can do more flags but i would like to know if there's some ideological background behind the ARF. Are they communist? Are they Islamic? Are they Nationalists? I don't necessarily ask for a background story but at least knowing what kind of ideological group the ARF is would help me to come up with more suiting flags proposals.

Yeah it makes it sort of look like a world domination sorta thing instead of a resistance movement/freedom fighters

Edit: If they are Muslim (doubtful) look for some religious brushes, I've got a few, it could make the flag seem more religion oriented
