pr.exe not working error on Windows 7

Post by alexisbatman »

I'm running an evaluation copy of windows 7 (build 7100) so technically it's not in beta anymore (I think OEMs are shipping from September?)... anyway Ive installed PR as I did on my XP machine ( it worked fine on XP).

I run pr.exe and game loads to the login screen. After the login screen I'm told I need to change/update my shortcuts from battlefield 2\bf.exe to battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe.

Once ive updated the shortcut, I try to load the game and find it fails. I get a 'pr.exe is not working properly' error.

I think this guy was experiencing a similar problem. I have tried .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 but it's made no difference.

I appreciate the OS is rather new but out of everything Ive installed/updated, PR is the only app/game I have had problem with.

Please advise.

Thx

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Here is my shortcut. "TARGET" It works just fine for PR on win7
You don't need to install any .NET service-packs, but ensure all your windows updates are all installed and do the usual things like:

Disable UAC, ensure your game is running as an administrator, disable windows defender, ensure all your drivers are up to date and ensure you have fired-up vanilla BF2 already (but clearly you don't switch to pr inside BF2)
