Sniper and Marksman suggesstion!
Sniper and marksman kits are my favorites but it'll be cooler and more realistic if the sniper and marksman kits have grappling hook and the good old zipline please if not the marksman then for the sniper pls add this to PR MP and SP it'll be cool, the sniper has to get on some buildings without ladders!

Care to provide references on how this would be realistic? Funny thing is in 22 years I do not remember carrying a grappling hook once...

As far as I know almost NO ONE uses grappling hooks in real life
(except special forces).

Re: Sniper and Marksman suggesstion!
As Tofurkeymeister said before, no standard infantrymen carry grappling hooks. But with grappling hooks sniper could climb on buildings and i think it is not so rare that sniper use roofes for cover or gain a better view (especially in middle-east).[R-DEV]LeadMagnet wrote:Care to provide references on how this would be realistic? Combat engineers use grappling hooks, but not for the usual purpose. It is thrown forward and drawn back, like a fishing line, over the ground. It is used to detect and expose land mines.Tofurkeymeister wrote:As far as I know almost NO ONE uses grappling hooks in real life(except special forces).

Re: Sniper and Marksman suggesstion!
I think Snipers should get grappling hooks, not marksmen.
My reasons being that snipers IRL in a city setting would be able to gain entry to a large building etc to gain a vantage point to shoot from, it is not possible to do this in PR so maybe the hook can substitute for that. Otherwise the sniper is ultimately useless on maps like Ramiel, Fallujah, unless you are camping base. I don't think the marksmen kit needs it seeing as how it is a squad weapon not really a lonewolfing weapon like the sniper.

What I was going to say. The reason specialists have grappling hooks is a metaphor for clearing a building. Thing is though on urban maps when sniping, I usually have a specialist with me for the flares (so we don't get flanked) and for the grappling hook.nick20404 wrote:I think Snipers should get grappling hooks, not marksmen.

I have a suggestion here,
If you want to be an effective sniper team there should be TWO of you, officer grabs Specialist kit so he has a grappel and the abillity to set down markers, the other grabs the Sniper of course.
Insugency Sniper teams should have a Civi SL

Snipers are ment to be handi-capped like that so that they can't work in 1 man teams. I hate when i see people make a sniper squad with 1 person and lock it then use it poorly the entire match.
When ever im in a sniper team (never the sniper seeing as im a bad one) I usally go specialist. It allows to to point out targets while still letting me provide access and cqb assistance.

Yeah now they just need the GLTD...or is that a stupid suggestion?Ccharge wrote:Snipers are ment to be handi-capped like that so that they can't work in 1 man teams. I hate when i see people make a sniper squad with 1 person and lock it then use it poorly the entire match.

No need for a GLTD. On the specialist kit. The normal binoculars are good enough you don't need more.

Well if the specialist should clear rooms then they cant do that without flashbangs and grenades and snipers should definitely have grapplesSkaterCrush wrote:What I was going to say. I disagree, because IRL the insurgents would be able to gain access to the building too, using your logic. So then everyone needs to have grappling hook.nick20404 wrote:I think Snipers should get grappling hooks, not marksmen.

Edit: Just make more houses with ladders.

Yeah but how will the specialist help him if their cover is blown, no grenades except a gun! and on SP the bots dont know about spotting, !!BF engine!! And i think that you should bring back the spotted radio signal!Ccharge wrote:Snipers are ment to be handi-capped like that so that they can't work in 1 man teams. Re: Sniper and Marksman suggesstion!
It is natural that a sniper should work with a spotter, who can carry a kit with a hook. We dont need more lone wolfing snipers.
As for single player, I guess its ok.

And in game it is displayed well, Civilians can get onto buildings like IRL the civilians would be able to open doors etc.TheLean wrote:I disagree, because IRL the insurgents would be able to gain access to the building too, using your logic. So then everyone needs to have grappling hook.

If you are a good sniper you don't need a spotter, it only creates problems especially when you are trying to be concealed having an extra person hiding behind the same object only makes you more visible, you don't need a spotter to spot your shots as the snipers are pretty much pin point accurate. A sniper can lonewolf and still be effective at giving Intel, and taking out high priorty targets like AA, RPG's and other snipers which is the main point of a sniper not to just pluck down on any roof and try to get as many kills as possible.sparks50 wrote:It is natural that a sniper should work with a spotter, who can carry a kit with a hook. Yeah who needs an extra set of eyes and security?? Or a rope or tripflares for that matter...nick20404 wrote: If you are a good sniper you don't need a spotter, it only creates problems especially when you are trying to be concealed having an extra person hiding behind the same object only makes you more visible, you don't need a spotter to spot your shots as the snipers are pretty much pin point accurate.
