[SUGGESTION] Polaris Sportsman 6x6

Post by KP »

Image

In Norwegian: Polaris : ATVs : 2007-modeller : Sportsman : 6x6 : Funksjoner

The Polaris Sportsman 6x6 is in use by several military units, including those serving in Afghanistan. It's main use is utility (transporting stuff and people) and transport during recces and combat missions. For instance, they're used for transporting sniper/marksman teams to elevated positions where they can put fire on the enemy, and then move on to the next position as they desire.

We use them with the Border Guards, and I can testify to them being useful, quick and a great asset. Would also create some interesting gameplay when used in combination with CV90s for mobility in battle or during recces.

Discuss, please.

(Considering modelling one myself, but I have no experience with vehicle modelling, and a few other projects that have priority in the limited time I have for modelling these days.)

Roger. It just came to me while we were planning the infil for our next OP stint. Can't remember anyone suggesting this 6x6 model, so I searched (didn't find anything - probably searched for the wrong phrase), Googled a pic of it and posted the suggestion. Though I could've walked outside and taken pictures (can be arranged if anyone wants to model it).

I've thought of this also, there's been plenty media of afghani-troops on these. Was going to suggest some time ago, but forgot.

Perhaps it could be plausible to make them able to carry a ammo-crate too(edit: or box), if loaded on at the base?

That is a cool vehicle... Could be a good counter for the ins motorbike. May cause balancing issues?? Be careful there. I dont think adding a ammo-crate to it is a good idea tho. Balancing issues.

Good idea though :)

Could add a small ammo crate on the back.
Not sure if this would be added, but I think it'd be pretty decent to see.
Not completely sure of what the usage would be though.

No we need to mount a 50. cal on the back

No who talked about balance? aren't the insurgents supposed to be raped? :p
Well if there is a ammo box in to that small "Polaris Sportsman 6x6" i don't think it will effect the balance that much...
Or you can make it 3 crewed 2 on the seat and 1 in the back or some thing..
It can be really cool with this ******* in-game :p

I would rather see the ammo boxes then the crates.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Are you 100% certain? Let's hear it from a MA. I would love it in game, given they're used.
We have like what, 300 soldiers there? They're obviously in some use, what defines (un/)conventional within such a small force? It's really different from say US army, in such problematics, wich are much more standarized.

More like 600 if you're thinking about a-stan.

When i Play PR, i dont want people to think, oh! The norwegians, special forces! YAAY!

I want them to think, hey, norwegians, they have awesome CV90s helicopters, and rifles. And their firepower is soo cool!

I dont want no Special forces faction in PR, it will ruin the game, and attract vanilla peopla... If people are going to play as the royal Norwegian forces, they ought to have some respect for them!

well if you need a reason to put it in there, it is commenly used on base ,for short transport, and interactions with the locals

and adetter, the post you made was in no way like KPs, his contained information and your was mainly focused on the Toyota.

What's on earth is so "special forces" about them, Wicca? The way i see it, it would be both practical and something out of the ordinary to have eg. 2x featured on a map. IF its being used enough IRL. I fail to see how having a couple of these will turn this whole faction into special forces...
Plenty of PR maps featured ATVs etc just a few releases ago, but they were removed since they weren't realistic.

the difference between the quad bike and this one is that this is better for transport and ammobox and not just joking around in...

i so hope this is going to be ingame!! ;-)

The 6-wheeler (or LTK/S) is used frequently by sniper teams (IRL) in a-stan, and as utility vehicles as mentioned. Regular units have snipers as well, so theres nothing specifically SOF-ish about the 6x6.
