Panzerfire I don't really want to include religion in he history. It's a game after all. I'll come up with a political scenario soon to help you guys.

EDIT: Flags deleted as a final version was found and is being worked on right now.

Oh no... just wanted to know what kind of militant group it was. islamic, communist or whatever. Knowing that would help in the making of a flag.

but oh well... you guys have already made one so it's pointless now I guess. Looking forward to see the flag.

Nice idea about Africans but who are they gonna fight with?
Maybe French, when times come to add French forces :)

French for sure as it was inspired by the french started project. It will serve as a new opfor faction for all other factions too.

Good luck with the project boys. Its a pity that the French Forces team feels a little hard done by. However it is certainly understandable that after having put allot of thought and time into creating there OPFOR and then having the rug pulled out from under them this late in the game. That said I certainly agree that a unified militia/conventional forced however how unlikely in current day Africa is still a better plan then create multiple factions that could be better served by one. As you have already mentioned the original BF2 team made the right choice in that regard by creating the MEC. There is no reason why Project Reality should be curtailed from creating a interesting and realistic gaming experience by something as small as a little background story. As they say never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I'm really keen to see how this faction turns out. I'm especially interested to see if the Private Security Contractor's will ever find themselves surrounded, out manned and out gunned by a enraged militia. ;)

To back-off a bit on the flag situation.

Does anyone remember the Insurgent crewman kit geo? If that is still used. (I don't know what the Milita use.) And its able to be transplanted to the EOD model's easily it might save you a bit of work. Then again I'm sure you already thought of that.

I guess about all I can add is I assume the officer kits are going to be split choices between the AK and FN FAL?

Guys, I see you want something about the plot and ideology, I could give you some feed for thoughts:
  • Maoist revolutionary movement called ARF was born in former French Sudan but rised to serious power in Mauritania.
  • After coupe d'etat in Mauritania, ARF was officially recognized by People's Republic of China and recieved significant support, including military advisors and armaments
  • Soon after that ARF movement spreaded across the border and took large amount of territory in former French West Africa under control. Same thing was when Vietnamese revolutonary movement supported by China hold territories in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and South China.
  • ARF established administrative control over captured territories and created infrastructure advanced enough to maintain conventional weaponry such as helicopters, APC and tanks
  • Large percent of captured territories is harsh for heavy armor, hence ARF uses moblie units on various technicals and APCs, that's why we're planning two kinds of maps for ARF: jungle for militia-like units and more 'deserty' for conventional forces
  • ARF is getting stronger and planning intervention in neighbouring African regions
Flag approved and soon you will see it.
Enlist now in mappers, modellers and coders.

Is it possible to make suggestions for weapons, or is that already final?

Good.

I'm just buggered by the fact you did this without informing or asking the French community faction before making the sub-forum. It's like somebody would make a sub-forum for Hamas and call it its own faction without saying anything to the IDF guys before so.

Eh.

come on, the subforum was created, because the DEVS want this faction to become real, and no you can't compare to Hamas, since Hamas will basicly just be another insurgent faction using existing weapons an reskined models, while here we are talking about models new to PR, new weapons . . .

The French knew about the lead change. It's hard enough to keep one faction on track, let alone two, so we (PR team and the French lead) decided it was better for it to have its own lead, to be sure it -just like the French- keeps quality at a top level. And because this faction got its own lead, we found it more appropriate if they also got their own subforum. Mind you, the French will keep developing it as well, albeit it under another lead and along with members of other community factions and/or the PR community.

Next time, don't make these "accusations", as you're obviously not in the know.

Don't blame him for that, he just deducts it from what he saw!
Indeed, we knew the OGG was going to have its own subforum. We just disagree on how it was done! Everybody know we are the grumpy in the world, we are always quibbling.
When I recruted dev for the FF, a great part of their motivation was to create a realistic African army. Give our work to other people isn't the problem, we agreed with that!!! But we would like to have more decision-making power in this new faction. After all, the main ennemy of the African army gonna be the French and we work hard on this OGG faction. That's just fair!

We understand it was necessary for PR Devs to create a new African faction (the mod is going to be soon more than 2go). Nevertheless, we want to fight for the idea we had about the OGG (or whatever name, like the African Union Forces) because our honor demand us to do it (Who said French people were fucking proud pigs? xD).

There is no problem now. We fight for our ideas because we think in purpose that the African faction need to be geopoliticaly realistic (so real weapons, language and vehicles etc...) more than just an unrealistic faction (Europe will have soon its own factions like Germany, France, Dutch, Norwegian, Russian, Polish forces, so why Africa should have a faction for the whole continent!!! Our African faction is a big faction involving jungle and desert theaters of war and its realistic).

We disagree with the simple idea of MEC, so ARF... (the funny thing is "ARF" is babies stammering in French, and MEC means"guy"...) We would like to impose our point of view, because we work on it and we really think it's realistic. But I repeat, we never desagree to give the OGG to Nosferatu and Mainerror! That's a chance for us! I've no doubt on the success of this new subforum! We just thaught that we gonna have some words to say in its making.

Foe.

other than the vechicles and skins and weapons(even though most are already ingame), what else will be changed? whats going to make this fraction unique? or is it simply another AK fest?

who are these guys against? seems your placing them as the BLUFOR but whos the opposition? you going to make another fraction within this one?

Really need new languages implemented....I'm not entirely familiar with african languages, what will this faction speak? French, Arab(I hope not, Taliban still need to speak Farsi or Pashto), or a new language?

If you want to speak of blu- and opfor, this faction will be opfor. A very nasty opponent for any blufor (or other opfor, if you wish ;) ).

I think every blufor can play against ARF... Each faction has just to do his own african map! (and it needs more time, because of new statics, and you need ingenuity in order to look like Africa :-) )
