[Help] Server-side Modding for Private Servers

Post by Acemantura »

I cant seem to mod server files while allowing clients to play, otherwise they just CTD. I did a server side mod for the Training mode (In a LAN, passworded and everything), and no one CTD'd, with decreased spawn times, and multiple spawns, but when I modded the gpm_cq, everyone CTD'd. I would like to modify the gpm_cq 64 for Kashan so my clan and I can have an enormous dog fight.

Can You help me out?

You can't add anything to the gpm files. You can delete, but adding any object that wasn't there before will cause CTDs (if it's already on the map though, you can add more). It's just because of the way BF2 loading works.

Thank you e-Gor.

Tell me, when I did this before, or when I give people the server.zip, they dont CTD. For instance when I decreased spawn time for the migs and such on Kash AAS, Everyone CTD'd, however, when I gave them the server files everyone was honky dory.

Yeah - the CTDs happen when the server and client don't agree about what's there in the level - so if you add any new objects that haven't been loaded by the client, it'll crash. If you change the properties of the spawners it'll probably crash too. But if the clients have made these changes too then both client and server agree and it all runs fine.
