thats because your one of the people who always uses it.
i have had the game a while. and it was about tactics. you need to play the game more to understand. they are just being used for the sake of it. not when they are actually needed. there can be a maximum of 9 squads that means 9 auto rifles..

Actually no I don't. Although the few times I have used it I loved it. If you don't like the LMGs too bad, its what every small squad tactic is based around.

The saw is fine, i only get killed by it when im facing its barrel. The "tank scope" as you call it, its actually either an ACOG or an Elcan has tunnel vision, this leads to your view being about 45 degrees max. Also to get a good field of view the AR has to be pretty much exposed. There is always a way to exploit the strength.

That brings up another point though, where are you that you allow them to freely fire countless rounds on you without you getting to cover?

I use the kit very regularly, and have often just settled for throwing rounds downrange to get the enemy to run for cover, not expecting to hit them. Sometimes I get lucky and hit them, sometimes they run for cover... but both those situations helps my squad advance towards the objective without enemies firing away at them.

I strongly suggest you make use of the kit in a squad, either by yourself or have an experienced autorifleman use it, because every other squad out there, 99% of the time will be using one. And as others have hinted, if you arent using it in your squad...well... thats why you dont like the enemy having them

Its like saying you dont like grenades because they can be tossed into windows and into courtyards to stun/kill. But then saying people only like them because they are using them... when the real issue is that you too should be using them If that made any clearer what I think the issue is here

This sums it up for me, besides all the common knowledge that has been pointed out in this thread.

Besides not having the choice to use a SAW with iron sights, I love it. The new AR kit is one of the best things to be added in PR. There's dozens of weapons, tactics and assets that can counter someone with an AR.

If your constantly being owned by Automatic Riflemen and you've not found a way to kill them, as others have said, you're doing something wrong.

im not some noob who doesnt know how to play. and i dont just run out into open fields or places without cover. nor do i actually belive that it is a tank scope. thats just an exajuration. but i cant help notice that nearly every time i die these days which is normally 3 or 4 times a round they are all caused by automatic rifles. i normally check every move i make very carefuly. the fact is they can pop out anywhere and when it comes to it they are more likly to win. espescially when u move to a new position and 1 or 2 people come strolling round see you.

I have rarely used it, yet I always take one in my squad, I normally play LAT or Rifleman and I can kill many AR kits, because no matter how powerful they are, they cannot look in a 360 arc.

i think horneviper is right. they should at least be removed from the spawn menu. otherwise the battle field is overflowing with them.
i hate the fact you can dock it whilst standing. thats silly cause you wouldnt be able to in real life. + there is hardly any recoil wwhen standing and docked. bear in mind these guns are powerful and big?

Seriously as many have pointed out if you are getting killed so regularly you are doing it wrong. Find cover, move away and flank. Engage in the sides where they're tunnel vision can't see you. It is a change to promote realism and teamwork, and it does exactly that.

It's fine for 2 conventional faction fighting, but in insurgency it may be abused like the other day in operation archer we had 2 american LMG's shooting dead accurate at talibans in the village from the castle. they even had a huey re-supplying them with crates.

Now this is a reasonable post imo.

the Standing deviation is too decreased I agree, I know you could put the weapon on top of stuff etc...but the assault rifles don't behave that way so why should the LMG? I would even say that maybe deployed mode should be disabled for standing completely.

Removal from the spawn screen would be acceptable to me tbh and replaced with either

1) a ironsight no zoom version for spawning
2) you can request the LMG at any vehicle/crate etc. So that it is easy to obtain.

While many others are correct that the AR, as in real life, is a powerful asset and is something to be feared, it could definatley use some tweaking. It's the little things (though some of the more important) that really piss me off about the AR. For one, I see way too many on the battlefield. Too many times has my squad been raped by a random MG gunner that is behind enemy lines camping some road. (I'm talking about urban enviroments in this case). Yes, this is Project Reality, but the fast pace of the game does not allow for an effective squad to clear every single building that is supposedly friendly territory. There are simply too many because all you need is two men in your (likely locked) squad to get the weapon. I really hope that they up the requirement of people needed in your squad for the medic and AR to a more suitable number such as 4.

Another major thing that is flawed about the weapon is the deviation and the simply crappy bf2 engine. An AR is not easy to take down in the open by a regular rifle because of the deviation on the standard rifle. The very good reason for this is gun sway, fatigue, etc. However, the deployed mode of the MG can be so abused thanks to crappy ol Bf2. The AR can run to cover, stay crouched, not give a damn about surpression, scope in, and pop out like a jack in the box spraying because he knows a rough location of the enemy. This tactic always works and is ridiculous. ARs need not fear a rifle surpressing him because, in most cases, he can just abuse the engine to put down massive amounts of fire given his deviation is at a fair level (this isn't even always the case). Isn't that wrong? A man is being surpressed by one or two standard rifles, yet, he doesnt fear getting shot because he can just stand up and blast the **** out of anything that comes his way.

This brings me to my next point regarding deviation. Many have pointed out that the required settle time does a good job of balancing out the kit. However, the quick prone dive, combined with the annoying innacuracy of the standard rifle, allows the AR to open up on enemies. Despite lots of shots going wild, one of the bullets is bound to go to the center of the crosshair (thanks to bf2). The ARs ability to put down massive amounts of fire allows him to win in this scenario. Isn't this wrong? When an AR (along with his squad) is caught off guard, he can easily win the battle.

IT also handles waaay to easily in CQB. In short, people must remember that this is a very limited game whose gameplay is not at all close to realism. Thus overpowering things to reality is not always the direction to go in.
