PR, Bandwidth, and Server Colocation

Post by {SAS}Cochise »

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, but I didn't know where else to put it.

My clan is planning on starting a 64 man PR server, but first we have to colocate it. In order to get a good contract and deal with as few overages as possible we're trying to gather as much information as we can on bandwidth usage.

Does anyone have some reliable info for me?

The Pr Community events guys and PR Tourney use Alphanetworks servers, which are of a really good standard. No disconnections, no crashing of servers or other major issues, would highly recommend them. I know some of their team read these forums, hopefully they can chip in and give you some bandwidth info :D

Yeah that would be really helpful. I will check out Alphanetworks though.

Pretty nice recommendation.

The Reality Teamwork servers use 3600 mb of bandwidth per hour, per full server.

As for providers, I think you will get a pretty good and reliable service from any well known company. The vast majority of crashes and problems are caused by bf2/PR or hackers, rather than hosting companies.

Shop around for hosting, as the prices for the same service can vary massively.

Yup, sounds about right space.

Shop around for good deals buddy, co location is definitely a viable option, especially in the US.

Ourselves at Alpha Networks dont supply servers in the US, but im sure a lot of people on these forums will have good advice for you.

I recommend gameservers.com they have very reliable servers hosting in many different places and are the cheapest hosters by far without lacking in any quality. They are 100% reliable and we've never had a problem with them. Also they allow you to use clanpay meaning everyone can donate to your clans account which is pretty neat.
