Remove all markers from map and name tags
Remove all kinds of friendly markers from the map and remove the names over the head on friendlys unless they are within 5 meter from you. This will encourage people to use voice comms to identify possible enemy positions also encourage SL communicating to avoid friendly fire. I really know this will add a whole new perspective of the game and would be realistic.

resuggestion with active threadsRemove all kinds of friendly markers from the map
IRL you have a more comprehensive radio set, mumble is pretty good but not everyone uses it, therefore the name thing should stay imo. Though I think the distance required for the name to come up without you looking at him directly should be decreasedremove the names over the head on friendlys unless they are within 5 meter from you.

agree 100% with markers, its just plain unrealistic.
but names should stay, since IRL you can indentify people by there face, and in a game you cant.

Too much, people already have trouble telling friend from foe, and looking to see if friendlies are in that area by looking at the map is usually the best way to tell. Also you will have no idea how the battle is going, and where your squad is needed... You would have to ask the commander.... hmmmmmmm.... I'm actually starting to like the idea and have succesfully talked myself into it.

Agree with the name thing. If I'm unsure of a contact, I usually pull out the map

i disagree, dont remove the markers.. instead do it so that you can have more markers at the same time.
Attack Marker / Move Marker should be able to be set at the same time

Jezus its still a game not a team killing sausage fest.
We have to learn to balance between whats fun and whats too much.
Even if project reality's goal is for that realism that you don't get from any other game, taking out too much stuff out of the game would make it incredibly annoying to play.

It's fine as is. It's already hard enough telling friend from foe on certain maps, not everyone has voip remember so as good as it would be to force everyone to use more voip teamwork. It ain't gunna happen.

Cause we throw bombs on it, throw bombs on it. Just smash something, yeah mosh for me.

Agree. Even with the new UAV being made, there'll never be enough commanders.Roborob wrote:Too much, people already have trouble telling friend from foe, and looking to see if friendlies are in that area by looking at the map is usually the best way to tell. Nah I think the battlefield Grafic interface should simulate professional training to some point.

Yeah if you want to kill the game play and increase the TK's by 40% and destroy the game for the rest of us.
Think before you post stupid suggestions. we can't function at all with out the markers and name tags.

I barely ever use the name thing to identify friendlies, removing it therefore wouldn't destroy the game, it would make it more demanding. Therefore its a realism Vs Gameplay arguement, which is debatable, not stupid.

As people have said many times before, there is a fine line between ultra-realism and unplayability.
Its like someone suggested a long time ago, remove ammo counters and make a way to look in your pouches to see how many magazines you have, its just stupid and will decrease the amount of people playing in the long run.

Re: Remove all markers from map and name tags
Have you ever seen any modern day battlefield communications systems that are fitted into tanks etc? We had a go with some of the systems the British Army uses in there CR2 and other vehicles and I can tell you now, that on there they had "map markers" for all friendly tanks and there locations + all possible enemy unit locations and tank commanders would literally spot out targets by putting a enemy marker directly onto the map.arjan wrote:agree 100% with markers, its just plain unrealistic.
It might be a little unrealistic in terms of infantry etc but iirc some infantry GPS systems do already link into the other battlefield comms systems with map markers etc and most likley will become much more common in years to come.
So even with the argument that infantry dont quite have it yet, PR is generally based slightly in the future and ontop of that removing the markers on the maps for everything would mean that all vehicles such as tanks, jets etc would also loose there map markers which would be very unrealistic and even more unrealistic would be the commander would also loose these markers making his job 100% useless if he can not tell where his own guys are.

Just a thought on people saying "people already cant tell who is friendly or not"
They are blind or need glasses. Look at the uniforms pretty simple to see the difference.

It's difficult at long range because the US and OPFOR uniforms look almost alike. If it turns out to be a friendly after you identify, you're fine. If it's an enemy, you're either dead or about to die because he shot you while you were looking at his uniform.GrimSoldier wrote:Just a thought on people saying "people already cant tell who is friendly or not"
