Default Microsoft Disk Defragmenter or Other Disk Defragmenting software?
How good is the windows default disk defragmenter program against other disk defragmenting software?
Which one would you choose?
If other, please post the name of the program.
I am in need of a good/better defragmenting program since the default program does not meet my expectations.

I use Diskeeper It is a great program and will defrag allot better than the default windows app. It will also automatically defrag your computer when your not on.

I use smart defrag: Defragment Disk | Smart Defrag | Free Disk Defragmenter Download pretty much the same idea as the above but I don't know which is better.

I second this!!! Out of all I have used, Diskeeper is by far the best! TuneUp Utilities defrag is not bad either though.nick20404 wrote:I use Diskeeper It is a great program and will defrag allot better than the default windows app. It will also automatically defrag your computer when your not on.

Checking out the Auslogics defragger now, it's pretty fast and did my C drive in about 10 mins (Albeit only an 80GB partition that has Vista and drivers on but still, pretty good) and it's slowly chipping through my Programs Partition.
I'll jump on the wagon for recommending it, it's dam good.

Oh cool, I used Auslogic on my old computer with an 80gb harddrive, pretty good. *Decides to download Auslogic again*
I think I tried registry defragger once on my old computer.

I recommend Diskeeper09 for many reasons. It works really well in the background auto mode, has a nice visual display and also defrags well under low free space.

In our experience, third-party, professional tools do a better job than the Windows’ built-in disk defragmenter. We recently took a look at fragmentation at The Truth: Is the Windows Built-in Disk Defragmenter Enough? » TuneUp Blog about Windows. Thought this might help with finding the right defragmenter for your disk.
