It does remind me of mashtuur city from vanilla  In a good way tho, as it was one of the only tactical maps on v.BF2

Map is going to turn out to be one of the best to date, I am sure of it ! Good luck with the french forces guys

Sorry to say it, but I find this map doesn't look very believable as a real place and a real city.

When playing Korengal or Fallujah, I sense those could well be real places. This map looks better than Kerbala, but still it doesn't quite cut it for me.

(I guess its understandable, as you state it's been thrown together as a training map)

Also, I'd say it has too much orientalism about it.. the nice gardens and mosque look more like a westener's fantasy about arabian nights than a real place.

That being said, I really appreciate you're contributing, and I hope you will continue to improve on it, as it has potential and the area (Waziristan) is definitely interesting.

Maybee, it's because Korengal or Fallujah are real/made with the real map. ;)

Static placement is superb and it looks like you've put a lot of detail into it, although I agree with the above statement. Try to remove some of the larger vBF2 buildings and you should have an awesome map.

If you look carefuly, you will see that there is a mix between BF2 and PR statics. And if I have choose middle east, it's because I got the buildings already with Vanilia ones, xpack and PR. We are working on other statics with FF Devs but for now I haven't got enought materials ...
I am working on other maps on which I will put more PR environement ... Hope it will fit your desires mates !

NOTE: IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE EXCEED MY PHOTOBUCKET BANDWITCH OF 10 GB A MONTH... I WILL UPDATE 1st POST SOON ! SORRY FOR THIS PROBLEM.

Great looking map, only thing I'm not sure about is the palm trees.

Are they really that common in cold, mountainous north-western Pakistan?

Somthing else I was just wondering; why not try and base the map on a real city there, such as Wana or Miran Shah? Having "Al" as part of a name, is an Arabic thing (as is Madhi while we're on the subject), you wont find Pakistani cities named Al-anything.

Good point here Terry... its name can be change !
I have thinked to call it "Miran Shah" too, I'd choose a fake name because the city itself is fake.

Concerning the vegetation, the palm trees are only used in the city. The rest of the map will have a vegetation like this :

Hi all, we are making some changes on name and background of this map ...
We are looking forward to use those assets for the French Forces :
> GBC 180,
> VBL,
> VAB,
> AMX 10 RC,
> Tigres
> Cougars.

... updating 1st post, but it could change during the developement.
Here are 3 screenshots of what I am working on:

I love the new name. ;)

La Fayette nous voila !

"Expedition La Fayette" is an easter egg about the French La Fayette Brigade, which will be deployed soon in Astan.

I really love the feeling you have given the roads with all those details around it. If I ever get a prober map going I will definitly use your touch as an inspiration. Driving through a good looking map is one of the best experiences.

Ok, I've taked some new screens to show you how the map is growing ...
It's all taken in the Battlefield Editor, so excuse the quality :o ops:

I have almost finish the city (Mingora), missing some lightmaps (do be done in 3ds), others have to be redone to final but it gives a good idea of how the colors will looks like ... (view distance is 850)

I'm working on the differents CP locations, to make them tacticaly interesting to defend/attack ...
Image

Image

Image
I'm trying here to have the rivers making roads for amphibious assault (or boat patrol), and I'm looking for the design of the roads close to water ...

Image
To finish, here are two images of the US Control Center (mainbase).

You'll have to wait for another minimap section, I'm planning to reveal the entire map when it will be playable in a 64 player version. ;)
Have fun all and see you in the fight !
