IRL, if you look through a scope, your eye is pressed against the eyepiece of the scope and your other eye is closed, so you cant see anything but the image in the scope.

Isn't your eye supposed to be a few inches behind the scope so the recoil doesn't hurt your face?

If your eye is pressed against the scope when you pull the trigger, you'll split your eyebrow open! Scopes have eye relief, which is how far away your eye needs to be to get the proper picture. Also, when looking down the scope, you can see around it a little, it's just that you're focusing on what's inside it.

well around an inch.. maybe 2, its where your eye focuses on the image cramming your eye on the scope makes the image blurry and you wont get the full scope picture

My mistake saying pressed up, I knew there was eye releif for Iron sights, which varies person to person, but still, with the rim of a scope and everything, basically it doesnt look like that screen, which shows your eye 5-6 inches away

Alright, I see what you mean.

Yeah, in the screenshot posted, the peripheral vision is just too good

That is incorrect. If you press your face against the scope, you veiw will be blurred. I hunt w/ a scoped 1903 springfield, so I know what I'm talking about. The area around you would be blurred because you are focusing your LoS down the scope, but you can still see out of the corner of your eye.

You also leave your other eye open when you're shooting, to avoid eye strain.

This would be a little more realistic.

I agree too, but not sure if the engine does :p

note that there is no "zoned" zooming capabilities afaik .. what you've got there is a section of the screen that is zoomed in and some that isn't.

I don't think it's possible .. but will add it to the ever growing list of things we don't think are possible with the engine but want to investigate to see if we can come up with something :)

Just gotta manage that list versus stuff we know is possible and would significantly affect gameplay, cuz they all take up time.

Bummer, but understandable for BF2. I'll ask though, how much coding would be needed to do the correct range finding reticles? Any chance it's as simple as inserting a texture with a transparent background or mask?
