Crew compartment for Havoc

Post by StuTika »

Reading 'The Encyclopedia of Modern Military Aircraft' today:

I noticed this (oops it's sideways sorry! :D ):

The Mi-28 Havoc has a small crew compartment so it can pick up the pilots from a downed chopper. I think this would be a cool addition to PR just because it's realistic and might come in handy for rescueing fellow Havoc crews. With PR's new chopper damage system, helis losing their engines and coming down in the desert (giving the crew chance to escape) are more common and this compartment would be ideal if there is another Havoc up as the crew could quickly be picked up.

I shouldn't imagine it'd be too hard to put in the game, the interior could just be black and it wouldn't matter.

problem is that the havok is an important asset in the maps its featured, the risk to teh helicopter would almost always be too great for a pickup. (though at least the apache could have the same love :) )

Probably a typo for the Mi-24.

Nope, definitely the Mi-28. It's on a whole page about the Havoc, I can post a piccie if you want proof :) .

But good point Rudd, I did think of that but hey I can't see any reason not to add it, just gotta use common sense when deciding to use it.

Don't think the Apache has anything similar...

The AH1W and Z as well as the AH64A and D both have similar features for extracting pilots. In game I'm not sure it has all that much purpose, but maybe could be cool for the Havoc.

OK I stand corrected! Maybe once the choppers get un-nerfed and we can actually use them as intended at lower level this will have more function.

Cooool thanks DankE! :D

Makes the Havoc look really big doesn't it? I wouldn't have thought there was that much space inside an attack heli...

There is no way anyone is going to risk a 10+2 ticket asset for 2 worthless 1 ticket pilots, whats the point of adding something that will hardly(never) be used.

Havoks are huge, there's plenty of space in that thing for a few extra crew members.

I'd love to see the HIND in PR, with it's 10man crew space or whatever it is

i would love to see... stuff being realistic... > >

o.O Saying no one would ever use it is like saying "There are NO good PR pilots"

There are...

just... you're not on the servers when they're piloting.

;)

my point was I'd rather risk the trans chopper with teh Attack chopper covering than risk the attack chopper. 20min period with impared CAS capability can decide the game.

Ofc it would be great to see realistic aspects to teh choppers like this, I'm just saying why its not necessarily the priority, though I'd like it if they get around to it.

I really dont think we need this at all. Littlebirds and scout helos can pick up downed pilots.

I agree, i think we need LB's and their counterparts in more maps but since more 4km maps are coming i expect they will make a welcome return.

By the way if you were going to add this, you may aswell add the ability for people to sit on the wings of an apache to even the odds (obviously make it so they can use their weapons, like in the truck shotgun seat), it has been done before and is a valid tactic written in manuals and the like.

Wait a second guys.... The apache already has that capability. Lol, might not be a compartment. but its fuselage apparently works just as well.
