[Help] Editor Crashes when loading overgrowth

Post by HangMan_ »

Hi there,

Recently i installed Rhino's overgrowth fields onto my map along with some other overgrowth. My editor now refuses to open my map and crashes when it gets to the loading overgrowth part.

I did not convert all of the overgrowth fields to statics as i am still working on them. Would this be a possible reason for the crash?

No error message is given which has confused me..

All help is appreciated!

did you selected the "draw overgrowth" option before you load your level?
try to make the viewdistance off the level as well as of the overgrowth to a very low one to have better FPS.
also select the "viedistance>level" option under toogledraw.

and maybe disselect all other stuff like undergrowth, gameplayobjects, ambienteffects, etc so basicly everything that you dont need while working on the overgrowth.

but its more liky that your PC doesnt have enough power for your overgrowth (too many objects), you can check the total number at "your_level/overgrowth/OvergrowthCollision.con" buttom line gives you the number. just get some more info/idea of your level and what could cause any problems :)

Ok i am going to try that now :)

Edit: The crash occurs before my map even loads. I am just loading it in the level editor then when it gets to overgrowth it crashes :(

from that screen it looks like the overgrowth is already loaded...I dont think thats what crashing it..

road from the looks of it..

delete whatever road you made last manually...or worst case...all the roads..

I got the map to load by removing the overgrowth files. I think the map had too much content and so my crappy PC couldn't cope

Odds are it was eating too much RAM or something. Happens

yep, most likley eating up all the ram, hence why I said you require a good PC on the tut :p

Best thing to do is to (first backup your overgrowth) then delete your Overgrowth.con and OvergrowthCollision.con, then load your map back up you then should not have any overgrowth placed. Then replace your overgrowth fields back onto there correct materials then convert your overgrowth to static before you think about restarting the editor.
