Pontoon Bridge.

Post by Herbiie »

Now, I've been thinking about this alot.

I agree with being unable to repair bridges, but I think I may have come up with a way to make pontoon bridges, though I'm not sure if it would work.

Now, a new vehicle is needed. A Bridge building Vehicle, e.g. a Titan:

This would work in the same way as a logistics truck, however, it would not drop A supply crate on the right click, it would drop something that looks a little like a section of a building bridge or a large tool box or something. Then, a Squad Leader with the Officer kit can place the Pontoon bridge section (if it were possible to have this only in water/at a lower altitude this would be great) and the dirt mound would fill up the water and the top would be at the top of the water:

then the Squad would set about it with spades it would build a section of the Pontoon bridge. Now, per tool box or w.e the Titan drops there could only be so many Pontoon sections (depending on how long the sections are.)

Ok, I haven't thought it out too well and it probably needs alot more thinking, but would it work?

na, it would in fact have a negative impact on gameplay if someone had to go and drive a titan around the map since there are only 32 players on the team and it would take anouther set of boots off the ground just to drive it.

Yes but you would gain the benefit of actually having a pontoon bridge, because I doubt an Infantry platoon carry them around...

P.S I find myself disturbed your first post, if you ignore the P.S it is actually just a wink.... scary...

Fuzzhead has already stated publicly that a bridge of some kind is going to be implemented.

Though I think it was unwise to remove bridge reparation until this new mechanism was actually implemented.

Scratch the vehicle idea... Just make it an asset that only engineers can deploy :)

Heh, If I recall correctly, putting a vehicle ontop of a object that was deployable would be like driving on ice ;)
Essentially, deathwish bridge ;)

Would be interesting to see this implemented. Besides, Maybe make the vehicle(s) drivable by only the Engineer? Then lay the bridge where they want
