After 25m you use the optics and the world is in order again.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
ADF is working with DSTO to develop a new family of sights, ones specifically tailored to Australian needs, sights will vary depending on the requirements but will feature modular capabilities. interoperability and userability is also considered key. optics are to feature next generation developments and upgradeable components. the indication as i have it is to offer ease of use within a CQUEB (close quarters urban environment battle) situation. where the ability to engage targets in room to room situations is as important as engaging targets on roof tops or buildings at range. all this taking place in an intense hi tempo battle space where the ability to switch optics is limited
this is in addition to the off-axis sight already being tested and the newer purchase of ELCAN optics and BAE thermal optics.
the yet to be developed FOE is to be a cooperation of industry and government. and should see a well grounded product arrive.
but we will see i guess

QUOTE='[R-DEV]Tonnie;1130525']not to mention the nice 25m effective range beyond that and your screwed[/QUOTE]
One of the thing's i hate in PR, is how the Iron sight's/reflex sights have been done. Object's in game appear smaller then there real life counterparts in order so they fit on your monitor, making things harder to hit at range.
EA solved this problem with a zoom when you sight in, blowing up the picture and bringing it closer to real size. making targets easier to hit. Fact is that zoom was there for a reason to solve the problem's coursed by the monitors.
With out the zoom you have a maximum range with a iron sight of about 50 after that it get's harder, 100m's is about the place iron sight's become useless.
in real life iron sight's are accurate up to 150+. where as in PR they have the range of a musket which is 100m, where is the reality in this.?
From what you said, you don't seem to like this ether and from the grumbling iv keep hearing on BigD about them few people seem to like them ether
I think if you don’t like the lack of the zoom, and seeming You two have done all the work in making this mini mod, you should do what you think is right,
Christ you might even find that the rest of the mod will follow your example

orly ? seems you need more practice as i choose iron sights most maps and score kills well above 100m away.RHYS4190 wrote: in real life iron sight's are accurate up to 150+. where as in PR they have the range of a musket which is 100m, where is the reality in this.?

Yeah, I agree with Gaz. With the right practice I almost always go with iron sights (except for the red dot scope, which takes up about 45% of my field of view) and score kills well above 100 meters.

the battle sights on the styer are not made like normal iron sights. and are extremely inacurate, only good for clearing rooms ect

That a surprise, i does not matter if you can. The average amount of players have trouble hitting targets consecutively at 100m's. i can do it, but it more difficult then what it should be.
We could even have a poll to prove this, but the dev's would not allow it.

Battle sights on a Steyr can't be adjusted and they aren't flash to begin with. 25-50 meters max.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
You can't have two separate points of zoom though on a single weapon though if that is what your trying to get at. For instance you can't have an iron-sight and a optical sight unless they are linked and placed in separate weapon slots. And that can't be done for the average rifleman without removing a piece of kit.
However, from what I read the ADF iron-sight equivalent will have 1.5x Zoom.

From what iv just read the styer iron sight's are not used unless in a emergency. So don't even bother with them, there a waste of time to create, and from what tonnie said there rubbish.
What i am saying is, i don't care what the sight is, Put a zoom too fit the capacity the weapon is going to fill.
So crewman 1x5 zoom,
medic 1x5,
officer 1x5
officer optic 4x
rifle man 4x
extra

No, they get use, just not at ranges over 25m. Not saying they need to be in the game, just that they aren't just backups.RHYS4190 wrote:From what iv just read the styer iron sight's are not used unless in a emergency.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
If the 1.5x scope is used, can I ask how it's going to be done?
Will it be like the other scopes where you only see through that, or are you going to do it like iron sights and have no zoom? Or use it like the vanilla ironsights where the view zooms in a little when you use them?
I'm just wondering, because if it's going to be the equivalent of the iron sights in other factions it's going to feel very different.

Re: [Weapon] F88 Aus Styer
I just thought I would add, I don't know how different the iron sights would be on a F88 (if they exist) but when firing this AK at around 40-50 meters at orange clay pigeons set up on a mound of dirt, it was extremely hard to get an accurate shot... could've been mostly due to having never held a rifle before that day, but still, the IS were tiny and I was trying to line up something the size of my fist. Sure a human body would've been an easier target, but at 150m, I doubt I would've even been able to scare someone with my shotsRHYS4190 wrote: in real life iron sight's are accurate up to 150+. where as in PR they have the range of a musket which is 100m, where is the reality in this.?

I'd be quite confident in saying that any one of the dozens of military forces around the world that use an AK based weapon have their troops firing it accurately out to 200-300m with iron sights by the end of basic.Psyrus wrote:I just thought I would add, I don't know how different the iron sights would be on a F88 (if they exist) but when firing this AK at around 40-50 meters at orange clay pigeons set up on a mound of dirt, it was extremely hard to get an accurate shot... could've been mostly due to having never held a rifle before that day, but still, the IS were tiny and I was trying to line up something the size of my fist. I'd blame the chicken wing
Bring that elbow down a bit. Square with your target. Oh, and take the safety off.
