The new breaching hardware

Post by Joeziah »

YouTube - Future Weapons-SIMON breach grenade

Would be cool for another way for people to breach doors in insurgency.

That is the only practical use a modern army would use I presume.

Maybe have the squad leader carry one since it attaches to at 5.56mm rifle ^_^

BTW I can't post this in suggestions so if you could move it there If you want too.

It's Future Weapons. If that thing is issued to troops, sure we'll have it. But it's not.

Just because it's in Future Weapons doesn't mean its realistic to have in PR. Most things in future weapons are in testing phases of development and aren't fielded to forces on mass. I don't believe anyone besides the IDF has ever used SIMON in combat. If you have something that proves otherwise please post it I'd love to see it. But right now I'm pretty sure the common way to breach doors by American forces is still a 40mm or a good kick.

There is a post limit on the suggestions forums for this exact reason. The theory is that by the time you reach the minimum threshold to post in the suggestions forum, you know how the community works, and how the mod works, and how new content is put into the mod.

I apologize in advance for my ruthlessness.

Lets take this post. I don't even have to go two lines into it in order to find a problem: You seem to have linked us to a Future Weapons episode. See, the thing about Future Weapons is this: complete bullshit, the whole way through. People often confuse it with a documentary, or another category of show that would otherwise contain accurate information in any way, shape, or form. This is not the case.

The second line of text translates into this: "it would be cool." The coolness of something does not translate into usefulness, necessity, or reality.

The third line: You claim that this weapon is practical. Standing 25 feet perpendicular to a doorway to breach it? The only combat environment that would require the breaching of doors is in an urban environment, where 25 feet away means either being inside of the building across the street, or out waay in the open.

Do you have any evidence that this is being used in real life? Do you have evidence that it is being deployed on a large enough scale that having it in game would accurately reflect the "average" fighting force in the regions that PR tries to simulate?

It's been in US service as the M100 Grenade Rifle Entry Munition for 2+ years now. Have not seen photos of them in the field or reports of their use yet, though.

But I echo what the other forum members have said; there is a minimum requirement for posting in this forum for a reason.

Shotguns are the primary method of a ballistic breach, but breach-men are also issued a mechanical breach kit with a sledge, halligan bar, bolt-cutters and/or other tools.

If you think this looks cool i would suggest you take a look at this:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... ality.html
Its the same concept, but used as an anti-armor weapon by the iraqi insurgents. The difference from the one you showed is that this is actually used in Iraq, and thats its even cooler!
Hopefully it will make it into PR at some point..

Welcome to the forums btw

A very advanced kit - a sledgehammer :D

I know that Explosives are also occasionally used.

A Sledgehammer doesn't need any ammunition !

Btw there's no point to adding this as you can breach a door from up to around 30m with the shotgun ;)
Just aim at the lock and fire until the door comes open...

interesting... yes .... would pr players wrather use that explosive or a shotgun shell... who knows... if u were going to have a door able to be opend by a rpg type weapon why not have it open with granades next to it or rpg shots from in game weapons?

Seriously, though, a breacher rifleman kit has been suggested before; on the DEV forum I proposed switching his shovel for a halligan or sledge.

What I havent understood is why we need it?

except for being cool it has no other use then the shotgun we already have.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.
