Camoflauge on Infantry Models.

Post by Herbiie »

Hey,

i think there should be a bit of light camouflage on Infantry models on Jungle/forest map, similar to a ghillie suit. Now I know that it doesn't render at long range but that's not the point, it can still help at short range when hiding in a bush or something.

The kind of thing I have in mind is this:

(Both Taken from the British Army Recruitment DVD)

I think it will add realism and make it easier to do ambushes etc. and make it easier to use realistic tactics (e.g. actually being able to hide and do recce without just getting shot...)

As I said I think it should only be Implemented on Jungle/Forest maps, as it wouldn't help much in Urban/Desert and also it isn't realistic in these areas.

Why have you posted two photos of a load of bushes and shrubbery?

You have a valid point. However you can hide in bushes and grass pretty well as is. Long as the enemy is close to you. I think it just might be a bit overkill adding it into the mod.

Maybe like alittle grass on head or some, but not a Ghillie suit!

I suspect that this kind of addition would mean an overall decrease in teh quality of new player models for performance reasons. But it would nice to see it on one or two kits. (e.g. marksman or something)

I doubt it would be a huge change, maybe a slight downgrade but I'm not asking for everyone to have ghillie suits, just a little extra detail on their helmets/webbing to make ambushing that little bit easier.

hte only thing i see wrong with it is you see something infront of you, and as your walking past, the bush appears, and that will give you away....

I think it renders with the undergrowth, But I am not 100% sure.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

With the guilly suit it would be much cooler but, the sniper or something would be harder to spot for the enemy. Maby that is the point but....

The point is that those two are basic infantrymen - not just snipers...

And yes - it being harder for the enemy to see you is kind of the point of camouflage...
