It's enormous size is just an optical illusion caused by the low field of view, its proximity to the camera (which gives you no 3D depth perception), and the fact that it is there all the time (you never put your weapon down).

So the model might be correct but apparently that doesn't change that it doesn't look correct.
If the actual size looks too big, make it too small so it will look accurate.
Compensating for the low FOV, if you will..

Not going to happen. We have standardized scaling in PR for a reason.
