graphics bug on kashan, just me?

Description:
while playing on a public game moving south down the map from the us spawn i suddenly started getting random spots of brown, then later many things where highlighted with white (did not get a screenie of it). I have been playing with out of date drivers for quite some time and this is the first time its happened after i updated to the newest drivers.


Steps to Reproduce:
1) grab a bradly.
2) drive it to the map location as seen on my minimap.
3) try looking around at various angles.

Kashan Desert AAS-32 24/7 hardcore kashan.


Video Settings (if needed):
nvidia Gefore 7600 gt (drivers v.190.62)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz (X2)
2gb ram
windows xp (not 100% sure which version, ill check + edit)
all pr graphics settings are default medium

Looks like a graphics card overheating/going out to me... something like that most likely 99.9999% chance isnt related to PR or the map

How does Alt+Tabbing and that much RAM work for you? lol.

I checked graphics card heat (as advised by a friend) and it was at a low temp both on the case and acording to my fan monitors (glorious things ) and i started playing again and it was fine. Also I dont have any problems with alt tabbing, no idea why its not really a hardcore computer so it doesnt get the high tech problems

Okita if my graphics card went, why was it only when my gun was at a certain angle, and when the rest of the screen is fine? just another thing to make this even more wierd.

If it does turn out to be my graphics card, just another excuse to upgrade

could be unrelated to heat though, I had a really nice fan setup with all the liquid heat dissipation junk on it and it read super low temp... then one day I got weird graphical bugs in both PR and ArmA...

Had to buy a new card...

hmm atm im just writing up my french homework so not really testing the card, but ill test on some games like l4d and if its still installed ut3, if i get problems ill grab a replacement, if i need to get a new one ( i will do at some point anyway) any suggestions for a replacement?

I have the same issue at least 10 times a day. I have a GTX285OCX with 4GB DDR3, yet overheating causes this issue frequently on my system, even with a dual-window fan propped against the case, the only thing that helps is RivaTuner with a fixed duty cycle on the fan at 100%.

If I do start getting artifacts, like objects extending into oblivion, or geometry extending outwards from a point, I just alt tab in and out and it fixes it until it reaches that "critical point" once more.

Try propping your case side off if RivaTuner doesn't help. I replaced the graphics card via BFG Tech thinking it was bad....turns out it's just how it works. Ambient core temp = 44 degrees and thats the point it starts acting up. I have 2, can't even run them cause of the heat issue until I get liquid cooling.

I have similar fan controlling tools to rivatuner and ive never had this problem before (my computer hasnt been updated apart from a network card, power supply & cd drive, all installed months ago) and the only things that have changed is the 1.5 patch, new pr patch and my drivers, could possibly just be the drivers?

Although the only similar thing i have had is a black line extending from the right hand side of the runway on operation desert rats on combined arms (which only happened when i looked from a certain angle just like this bug.)

It looks like texture tearing or artifacting, I think is the technical term. I get it a lot because my gpu is pretty old. It's well ventilated and what not. I've got a good 3 or 4 years out of it, I guess its just going bad.

There are some people out there that make artifacting fixes for specific gpu's.. so if u might be in luck.

just an update: fresh reinstall of pr didnt work but reinstall of bf2 doesnt seam to hold any problems, if i cant find any thing else then it probably was just corrupt files perhaps?

if i cant find anything else could a mod close the topic?

used to happen to me. weird random GPU and CPU combination. I swapped my graphic cards between 2 identical pcs and the second one didn`t have any problems.


That was 4 years ago tho... the term "Project Reality" wasn't even in my vocabulary...
