Hey guys, now that im playing Ive found that I cant stay on a server for more than 5 seconds without getting kicked because of my ping. Its always around 350ish and I dont know why. I have no background aps running and I have 8meg broadband. There are no firewalls on my system and nothing is interrupting my play. I have fast download speeds.
Anything that may need updating or tweaking to solve this problem?
thanks

Re: Huge ping! ?
wireless networking reduces your ping you might want to consider getting a cable and plugging it directly into your router/modem
the more network devices (routers/modems/switches/bridges) your traffic goes through the slower it will be
maybe your antivirus software is interfering try deactivating it for testing purposes
"QOS" quality of service can worsen your ping its a network adapter setting
also qos is used by some ISPs. to have them deactivate it they charge like 1€/month and call that "fastpath"
you should preferably join servers in your country/continent
make sure your roommates or who ever is not downloading stuff (ie. torrents, thus occupying the network [esp. upload]) when your gaming
