Note: I use a mic myself and I fully believe its the best thing to use both for practical reasons and immersion. But the wast majority dont, and thats why I suggest this to help them.

Being a gunner on a armed vehicle without a mic using the chat is usually trouble free, but because of the time needed to write in the chat, the gunner has no immediate way of requesting a stop so he can aim hes turret(and milliseconds are often essential when an enemy is spotted).

Arma and OFP has this system. what we need IMO is:

key W: voice and chat "FORWARD" (this is often needed when the turret can reach up or down because of a hill)

key S: voice and chat "STOP" (this is needed a lot as the gun turret in hilly terrain can quickly get off-target by just driving a meter too far forward. Also its very hard to aim while moving, so the gunner needs a quick stop to be able to quickly neutralize the target(s) he has spotted)


Right and left (key A and D) is not needed.

I am all for an extra set if options on the ComoRose when in tanks/jeeps/APCs/wheelbarrows. Just add them to the "T" ComoRose.

Isnt it the other way around.


Well anyway if you give them commands pepole might stop buying mics and less Team work in PR. Alot of new people have bought mics just for PR so lets keep it that way.

Well, it was only meant for emergencies really. But there should perhaps be a spam limit like on the commo rose.

I would also like a back button, so I would prefer default movement keys that use ASD be used. So turn left could be forward, move backwards be stop and turn right be back up.

Actually we have a work around for that mates.


The common PR players understand that if the gunner says Bail out, means stop. And go, is go... We use that and it seems to work just as well.

thats a nice tip, though my experience is that the commo rose is a bit fiddly and doesn't work well for immediate commands.

Is there a way to bind that to a key instead of using the comm rose? I tend to fire a shot off when trying to use those options.

Dont think so. In PR its made so that if you change those specific keys it doesnt work.


Like for example, the TALK button is changed for me to my mouse button, i have a 5 button mouse. Now when commander, and you want to talk to individual squads, that mouse button doesnt work.

You have to revert it back to B.

So yeah, it sux. Its up to the devs to change the coding for that to happen.

I recently suggested a similar feature, basically adding a vehicle radio like the humvee has. So you can quickly signal the driver.

It seems that people feel helping non-mic users is going to ruin their game. Even with the ability to kick people or join servers that require those things.

ralfidude: Thats strange, I have been using mouse button 5 for voip talk(B) on my MX518 for ages, and Ive never had problems in using it as a commander to talk with individual squads.

Like the idea as well. Being able to say "reloading" would also come in very very handy and wouldn't hurt anything.
