Re: A small rant about some Players
Thats what i do... With my wife ......
Anyway, i think this is a really heated discussion. And that people that doesnt understand that
1. PR is made by people who doesnt take money for the work they do.
2. Play on servers that the admins pay for to maintain.
3. That this is the internet, and you dont really have any sort of physical power.
Should learn some manners, its really rude.
I mean you can moan all you want on how you want the "battlecycle" to be, the rules on that server etc. Its not really going to change anything. Cause ultimatley its the man with the money who makes the decision, and the sooner we put that behind us the better.

How simple is this concept?
If someone pays for a server then it's their CHOICE.

Thanks for the helpful comment. Your insightful remark moved the debate along, highlighting an important distinction other posters have not made.Masterbake wrote:Mate you do realise you're supposed to hug your girlfriend not play PR with her right?
Alternatively, as soon as moderator comes along, you'll get a slapped wrist for pointless posting.
05grottim wrote:That's a good story- not a huge fan of seeing people get punched in the face for a reason that doesnt warrant it though. However as good as that story was it doesnt really give a reason for the language filter on a server. This doesnt really represent your rules anyway as i was reported for saying "you just raped us" or something like that and you make a big deal out of it saying i was abusing your wives?!
There's a saying with regards to assault that we use at work sometimes - your right to swing your fist ends at my face.
Likewise, your right to use foul language ends at my ears (or a server owner's eyes). You have every right to use whatever words you so wish, but whoever receives them has every right to take whatever action they want to.
In short, don't whine and play elsewhere if you don't like being told to widen your vocabulary beyond four-letter expletives? It's not hard not to swear, after all.

It's troubling to know that you've got a personal problem with our clan Masaq. We'd prefer you to report your issues on our website if you wish us to change for you rather than making your own "helpful comment" / "insightful remark" on here.
On topic... buy your own server, accept the rules on public servers, or don't and get kicked/banned from them.

LOL at Masaq i think someone needs to stop his personal vendetta against our clan. Some other people might say that's what a 6 year old will do- saying the opposite to what someone else says everytime they say something. I however dont hold the view that only someone with an IQ below 90 would do what Masaq is doing right now. Some may argue that you're a **** others may disagree im not sure where i stand- somewhere in the middle i think.

Good words, Those who have known me for a long time will remember this has been a long time issue with me, and frankly what we have done is decided while we are not quite ready to become liberalized, yet we see the benefit in not remaining sticks in the mud either, so I was hoping for a general opinion and I think I got one.
We are going to take a new stance on our servers. We are going to realize that things happen, even if it's game, when you have spent 30 minutes setting up a great ambush or attack and it gets swiped off the face of the server people get frustrated and throw out the release. We are going to overlook these issues. Sometimes we can get a visitor in there that really does become abusive, at that point it time we are going to kick, not ban but kick, if they want to persist, we will ban them.
Also I would like to add it has always been our policy to issue the same types of rules against our own clan members, and it has happened where one of our guys got frustrated and became belligerent with a visitor and we kicked the member. Our rules apply to everyone on the server, not just visitors.
You know, it is said that opinions are like rectums, everyone has one, and most are full of it, well I feel like I just had a good dump.

Re: A small rant about some Players
As a former server admin for several games, I agree with Gunner in his mannerisms. When I was running servers, I had a "language rule" in effect as well. It simply stated "Harsh language is ok unless it's the only language you know." And guess what, everyone with the occasional exception of the 12 year old who's mommy and daddy aren't home, respected the rule. It's simple, we all swear, but we don't want to hear it every time you speak. Seems pretty simple, and extremely easy to respect to me.
Respect people, you'd be surprised how incredibly useful it can be. One of my favorite quotes to use is this: "The Internet is no excuse for ignorance."
To the OP - You say you follow orders, but your post declares otherwise. It's well known that you had a problem with the order, but why didn't you offer up an alternative when you were given the chance? Just by reading your account AND Echo's account, I thought of three separate ideas you could have done, the most helpful to the situation would have been you providing intel on enemy assets, which could have helped Echo to develop a better defensive strategy, and would have been extremely useful if that map is able to have a mortar or artillery strike performed on it.
Hate to put it this way, but get over yourself.

I liked that story. That is what I would do if someone did that to my wife (If I had one).
I think that if you don't like a server then leave. Yeah they shouldn't be unreasonable but ether way it is up to the server admin.

Re: A small rant about some Players
It all depends on the situation. Some people find it more offensive in certain situations than others; for example, they'll drop F-bombs all they want at home, but at work or school they're constantly self censoring. But all that's beside the point; since the server admins pay for the server, they get to impose their sensibilities upon you. That means if they find conversational profanity offensive, you just have to bite your tongue and deal with it.sparks50 wrote:Its not an excuse, its an explanation. Go play on another server if you dont like it. You dont go breaking down clubhouse doors in real life demanding things to be radically changed.
Many native English speakers find harsh language offensive. This is different from many European languages where swearing is almost part of everyday speech.

Re: A small rant about some Players
ERSB NOTICE: Game experience may change during online play.
When you have any sort of social event, you have loads of people from different cultures and backgrounds etc gaming with one another. Some swear every 3rd word, and some people think swearing is a sign of a poor vocabulary. As a server provider, they have the right to kick/ban at their discretion, and there is nothing wrong with that. If they dont want you as part of their community or their online experience, then that's simply up to them. If your prepared to change your ways, write them a groveeling pm saying you have seen the error of your ways or w/e.
I think people just need to be more tolerant of other players at the moment, as when I game i just get dissilusioned with some players. I play the mod to have a good time, not to have some guy who thinks he's Lt. Speirs from band of brothers telling me that my tactical position is all wrong, and as a squad leader I should never leave a man behind. I got told off yesterday from my medic as he got trapped whilst we were engaging an fb, and I didn't go back to secure him. Was an awesome wtf moment for me.
I had another priceless moment last night just to show you what i mean.
dude 1: how long does it take for smoke to fully deploy so i can use it as a screen?
dude 2: RTFM, what is it with all the noobs on the server today?
Me: I've read the manual and I don't even know the awnser to that question.... So go on dude 2, tell us all as i would like to know too.
Dude 2: Umm, I think it's 30 seconds.
When people say RTFM, it annoys me as they havent usually read the thing either. just something for people to chew over.

Re: A small rant about some Players
well i'm not proud of it but i do swear a lot annd i know i shouldnt but for me it's just a habit now. I lead squads ingame all the time with quite a lot of swearing and not once in playing nearly 2 years of PR has someone asked me to turn my language down because i dont actually think many people care. IMO i think it's just Americans who seem to get really touchy about things as your culture is much different to European ones. I just cannot see a problem with swearing ingame.

This is my all time favorite excuse..."But Soldiers swear in real life". Well, in real life you don't press the "J" key and type. Of course people swear in combat...trust me on this. I said some random off the wall profanities. But when I am stateside relaxing playing PR, I don't want my server cluttered with this ****. I don't mind if it is said over voip sparingly, but not over all talk.

Re: A small rant about some Players
the only reason i said that because we have idiots who come on PR treating it like real combat. How many times have i had people calling me sir when squad leading? Or people complaining when i'm not using real life military tactics. I dont think that this game is like real life it's just that most of the people on the forums seem to think it is so im giving something for people to compare it to.

LOL at that. I think what these admins think they have to prove is that they have a very big penis and they do that by banning people on video games.
