HQ Setup instead of Firebase. Insergency mode
So i was reading through the replace firebases threads and some one came up with a good point... why not just have the comander set up a HQ station inside a building such as ... one of the apartment buildings the comander would walk in and place a radio stack.... and in the room right next door he would place some sort of ammo station where inf can spawn in at.... like a full team rally point.. this way you can iliminate the firebase in some maps and have a more realistic base of operations oppose to the flimsy sandbag circle with a very reveling canopy that if anything gives away the position of the in game firebase.

I dont get what is with all this hatred at the current firebase model. It is good as it is IMO it allows you to place defenses etc but with a drawback. Also if you had anything other than the sandbag area as the model i.e tables and all thats being suggested on insurgency Blufor have an advantage that is just too great. They could place it where ever they wanted and then the insurgents probaly wouldn't be able to destroy it at all or only after a sustained assault where as you've left your cache defeneseless.

Re: HQ Setup instead of Firebase. Insergency mode
I got this idea right now:
1)In urban evironments, SLs would be able to make HQs. Commanders can command from there (he is closer to the battle/can hear sounds and stuff, BUT it's just not safe!) and the team can also spawn there -- this should be balanced w/ some kind of limitation (ex. 1 HQ per round max, or a half hour block time to make a new one). <---- could use Redamare's idea, pretty nice!
2) In forest environments, a firebase/forward outpost (like it is now). Same stuff (2 supply crates and all other limitations).
3) In desert environments (pretty much like Al Bashra), a FB/FOP with desert camo netting or no nettings at all. Same limitations, same defence system.
4) (for large scale scenarios only! ex Kashan 32 or 64) Make a Forward Operations Base. Yes, that huge FOB like in Fallujah West, or FOB Manhattan (ARMA 2). Yes, all that fancy stuff, a helipad (and a spawning chopper) and a "garage" (w/ HMMVVs and APCs). That should be like this:
1st Step: Fences (not a "fence" but that whole gray walls w/ barbed wire).
2nd Step: Radio Tent. The real spawn point (which can only be built after step 1).
3rd Step: Defence Towers (TOWERS! CAN OVERWATCH OVER DA FENCE!). Speaks for itself.
4th/5th Steps: Helipad/Garage.
These (which can only be built once a round, no exceptions) will work as a Firebase/Command Center/Supply Depot. Pretty much like this... but NO LOGI TRUCKS! We don't want to render main bases useless and make new FBs so easily, but a BlackHawk would be usefull. Also, vehicles only spawn once there and then they don't spawn again. The FOB still works as a repair/supply depot, just like in Main Base)
A commander's approval should also be requested. No CO? Too bad!
Overunning these...
Now that's the problem. I was thinking about throwing 6 incendiary grenades (at least) in the commanders tent. Large enemy quantity (I mean LARGE) near/inside the FOB should disable the spawning of personnel.
I think that's it.
Any feedback?

In comes the JDAM. If there is going toc be a FOB it will be put in the map, not buildable because it could be a massive waste of assets if the US just drops a bomb on the FOB. It could even be a neutral thing, so whoever captures it gets vehicles, ammo dump, repair station etc.goguapsy wrote:I got this idea right now:

edit: Anyways PR's maps are way to small for FOBs, so thats a no.

I like the idea of being cappable.SkaterCrush wrote:In comes the JDAM. Re: HQ Setup instead of Firebase. Insergency mode
i think there should be multiple types of FB's , but only 4 total fbs can be placed:
1. Firebase(like the current) , 2 crates, but takes less time to shovel then bunker, and less defences(less or no foxholes and less razorwires)
2. Bunker(like the current) , 2 crates, takes more time to build, have normal limit for defences etc..
3. Radio in desk/very little base: 1 crate, very little time to build, but no foxholes/aa/mg, just radio and optional razorwire.
and more stuff for squad leaders:
1. Landing Zone for helipad, not like the normal helipad, a dirt helipad, takes little time to build, or long time to build+repair and rearm
2. Guard tower with ladder, need third crate, could have mounted sniper/machinegun
3. Vehicle Depot, takes long time to build, rearms and repairs vehicles, and sometimes spawns Humvee/Truck
those 3 things can be maybe only for something like upgraded base/hq
