OK, I'm stumped, need help !!!!
Here it is, I finally downloaded BF2 patch 1.5, so I can proceed on to PR v0.87, took 4 times, but I have the Installshield .exe icon with the friggn vista's permission shield over lapping it, so it must be a permissions issue then right, cause I keep clicking it, and the little rotating cursor thing just sits there and rotates...forever, never doing a damn thing. So WTH do I need to change to execute this app, I'm having a vista brain fart here, can someone explain to me what to do, apparently I need it in red crayon, cause... I'm an idiot.

Did you double click it then wait for the permission then wait some more for the patcher to start? It takes awhile for the 2GB patch to start. Took me 35 minutes with Vista, and a dual-core AMD 3600+, also 2GB Ram without anything else open. Just close out all background programs, and double clik and wait for a little bit.
Steam?
Pissed about BF3 not having mod tools, also?

nope, haven't done that, let me give that a shot, I restarted it a bit ago, and saw a flash of an error window saying I had to many 16bit programs...and then it went away, I'll be back either way bud, TM againboom50cal wrote:Did you double click it then wait for the permission then wait some more for the patcher to start? *edit note* I did double click, but again not much happened, also tried run as admin

open your command window, type
md c:\temp
press enter, next go to the folder where bf2patch150.exe is stored in by using cd with path, then put in
bf2patch150.exe /extract_all:"C:\temp"
press enter - takes a little while - finally you'll find some files in c:\temp, run setup.exe as admin, that will start the installwizard
report back please
btw. are you really running 16Bit programs on Vista ?!? Which ones?

Re: OK, I'm stumped, need help !!!!
it tried to find "bf2patch150.exe" in the folder "C:\Users\Chris" which it failed to find
so you could either move the installer to C:\Users\Chris and do what you did again
that should work
or learn a bit on how to use the command console
the "cd" command is to navigate in the command console
it expects a path as parameter ofc at this point that should be where the bf2patch150.exe is located
if it is in c:\downloads\BF2 you would use: cd c:\downloads\BF2
where the bold is the path parameter where your installer is/should be
note: you might have to adapt "bf2patch150.exe" to what ever your installer is called

That's a bit strange. I did a google search for you and it appears you are not the only one experiencing this ... but I couldn't actually find any answers or solutions.Kaffi Java wrote:I restarted it a bit ago, and saw a flash of an error window saying I had to many 16bit programs...
Vista "too many 16 bit programs running" - Google Search
There is a possibility , but I don't really want to start spreading fear and user dismay. Some virus's run inside 16 bit mode, because it is easier for them to overflow buffers. Perhaps do a good sweep of your system ?

not good my friend, not good...thanks for the thought. my rig has been a little jinky last couple days, tried to shut down back ground programs...thought I left my PC protection alone
I'll run one and do a little research myself
But, busy as S@*T running a platoon IRL, I'll get back to it soon as I can, thanks brother as well as everybody else...I might just go loony without me PR
