Taste in variety of Maps...

Post by caligulus »

Why are the only maps people play Kashan Desert, Muttrah City and Al Basrah?

I mean, Muttrah is ok... it's not the most interesting map in the world... Al Basrah is pretty cool.. but not for the 23094893485 time in a row playing... and Kashan is just dreadfully boring.

What is the appeal to these maps?

Play on a different server if you don't like the maps they play.

There is alot of variety really

Kashan is a tanker's paradise. Al Basrah is British Paradise. And Muttrah City is USMC Paradise.

I very rarely get to play Al Basrah on the servers I frequen (mainly UKWF and RT), the reason the other two are popular is because they fill the servers right up, although they each attract a different kind of player.

I would like to see more Chinese maps played, Qwai River used to be insanely popular and now I hardly ever see it, but I guess that's because the massive loss of assets ruined the feel of the map.

I agree with the op, a lot of the servers have those maps and 2-3 more on their list. I like servers like BigD who have basically all the PR maps on it, so you can have a variety of strategies, experiences, etc.

I dont think ive ever been on a server and the maps rotated like al basrah - kashan- qwai - muttrah - qinling etc it would be really awesome to have some servers with real variety but i never see it.

Had a fun round on Muttrah earlier. We were an MEC squad just running around Mosque, though we had a griefer lite edition who failed at griefing, so we surrounded him in his crewman kit with our knives out, just crouching and pushing him through the skyroof

That, and the failure Huey insertion made the round make my day :')

Al basrah, i have been playing since 0.5 and still never gets boring(my opinion)
and ppl will say the same for same map and other maps

if you dont like playing them maps change server then.

there are alot of servers with normal and insurgents maps now, you have alot to choose from really.
or if you dont like the order of the map list, buy ur own server and make it how you like it.

wrong, wrong aaand..wrong.

Kashan can be won by the fast moving infantry who have transport, the well coordinated tank group or the fast and efficient air squad. Al Basrah is won by the team best able to use its assets. I.e. bomb cars and armour, as well as if the insurgents remove alot of the transport route choices from teh Brits they can cause major pain, and Muttrah is anything but a USMC paradise. They are outnumbered on the ground which translates to "if the air squad isn't great, you are in serious trouble.

You need to play on servers that intentionally choose underplayed maps or servers that let their maplist run no matter what is next. TG and a few others are good examples.

e.g. I played Muttrah 16 and al kufrah 64 yesterday, both underplayed maps.

I hate when players keep voting the same maps over and over again, becomes boring very quick and makes you lose the interest of joining a server running the same map that you played yesterday and the day before it...

I often change the server for a good map.
I mostly join a server to play on asad, fallujah, muttrah, sunset, korengal, ejod, (sometimes) ramiel.
Once I got banned because I come from UKWF to coffeshop and shoot into us base on korengal. So changing server is not always the best solution!

Isn't that a glitch when someone joins also I get sick of playing the same maps again again like muttrah and kashan I love to join TG because they always play different variants of maps like kashan 16 which is the best :D
