didnt start this thread to flame clans, just really an observation. I have been playing PR since the first mini mod launch and it is so nice to see so many new players. I personally believe that many others are frustrated with vanilla BF2 and PR has the oppotunity to promote the most enjoyable aspect of the game which i'm sure many of us experiance.
For me it's the feeling you get when a squad that your in just clicks.. i played a game recently (think it was on either zipp or IGI) and the squad i was in was superb! Support guys giving covering fire, medics reviving people, even a lovely ambush of a nme tank heading down a road. I think our side won maybe 3 out of 5 rounds but that wasnt the issue, it was the joy of playing with quality team mates.
The influx of ex vanilla players is a oppotunity to strengthen the PR community and "old school" / experianced players should start squads and lead by example to show what how PR can breath life into BF2

What about doing it like EA:
IF the server is ABR ranked, Configs can not be changed!
For the teamplay thing...
Sometimes it`s enough to be first talking about squads and tactics, most new players will think:
"oh this one knows what to do, let`s keep doing what he says"
If they are simply not following the AAS order, contact an admin and kick/warn them.
(this is kinda brutal, I know, but if you`re warning them 1000 times and they do not react at all...)

'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']Yeah I agree that servers can be really hit and miss.... we really tried to standardise the server config with 0.3x so that at the very least, a default unmodified install had appropriate PR settings.
We are aware of the issues with unlimited kit and *really* hope we can do something for 0.4 to address that.
The official server thing is still a bit odd .. no matter how hard we try, it's really up to the willingness of the players to play as a team... but we're gonna keep trying to add stuff that will encourage teamwork. Althou kicking for no squad does get a bit extreme, I'm not opposed to the idea.
Rather than "official" servers, I'd thought about HARDCORE settings that had things like forced squads and such. Not sure what else would define it as HARDCORE now that we have standardised most of the settings.
We could incorporate forced squads, but have it a disabled setting by default, and server admins can turn it on.
egg
i like this idea of so called "hardcore" settings...class limitations, forced squads before you can spawn and such, basicly the more stuff like this the better

Please come to our forums and post your case in our Complaints forum.Lt.Waters555 wrote:Also, I was banned from War is Hell less than a minute after I joined and I'll tell ya why. I spawned and saw an enemy by our Cobra, so first instinct is to shoot at them, right? Well I did and I guess I was missing him and hitting our helo. Then a teammate jumped into the helo and the enemy blew up the Helo and I got credited with a teamkill and I was banned. I didn't notice that I had tk'ed and I doubt it would have mattered since less than ten seconds after that happened I was banned and have been banned ever since... NOT COOL!!!![]()

Heeey, I love y'all's server, but man, there were some major troublemakers on there yesterday and no admins were on and then we discovered there's no kick voting, no mutiny, no TK punishments, nothing. Some guy named HITLER Diabolos666 was our commander and spent most of the time using the commander insults and ATing our helis :-\.:iGi:. Greg wrote:Similar to the War is Hell guys, us iGi always get in squads when we play. Last night our 50 man server was full for most of the night. Certainly different play when you have 50 players on!Usually most people squad up when on our server and we now get quite a few familiar faces on so they squad up too. But you are always going to get the lone wolfs come over from vanilla. There is nothing you can really do about it. Hopefully once they have played it for a while they will start to realise teamplay is the key in PRMM.
The only thing you can do I suppose is reward players heavily for being in squads with regards to points. I know at the moment you get 25% of squad members points, (and you used to get 25% of team mates points making it 50% total) but maybe since the .31 update that should be changed to 50% for squad members. That might persuade people to play in squads.
Trying an enforced squad system will only result in half empty servers.

[R-MOD]Mongolian Dude: AH man, sarcasm is so hard to get across the web, even if we are both british
[R-DEV]Jaymz: That has to be...the most epic response to a welcome thread I have ever seen. [R-CON]Mr.D ladies and gentlemen!

Actually Katarn, USM will sometimes not squad up because we are in teamspeak and the whold spawn on the squad leader seems kind of weird. Most people might join squads, so they can spawn on the guy and run off. And the reson we were losing is because before the teams were sorta stacked with USM all on the USMC side and it was a walk through. So we evened the skill but the score was too far off.

If I see him on again i'll ban him straight away. Unfortunately we can't have an admin on all the time.Skullening.Chris wrote:Heeey, I love y'all's server, but man, there were some major troublemakers on there yesterday and no admins were on and then we discovered there's no kick voting, no mutiny, no TK punishments, nothing. I turned kick voting off as it never works and is buggy. (In a year of playing BF i've never seen enough votes to actually kick someone). TK punish is turned off as too many people punish even if it was an accident and you said sorry.
