Yeah getting tired of all these crewmen squads, kept getting killed if im brits or Americans on maps like Asad Khal and Muttrah since the guns "overpower" in CQB. I think the gun should be of higher recoil or less magazine capacity, yet still be compact to store in a tight space, as bob marley explained. The chechneins have a vz-61 skorpoin as crewman's primary, but nobody complains about it since although it has a high rate of fire and slight recoil, mag capacity limits it.

"overpower"

I don't agree with its overpowered perception. I find it easy to get these guys with a sa80 irons,. they only get the gun because its superior to teh G3 in CQB

It is essentially an mp5 firing 7.62 NATO rounds :D

I wonder how large the muzzle flash is on this thing :p

(I'm kidding btw)
Does that even exist?

G3 is only inferior in CQC to the MP5 because of magazine capacity. However, I make up for this with grenades.

BTW, G3KA4 for the Officer plox :D

Yes it does exist I believe it's called the MC51. Made in very small numbers, virtually uncontrollable on full auto.

Not that I am suggesting anything, I just so happen to stumble upon the old HK53 (5,56 variant of the MP5)

The HK53 is like an MP5, just stronger and maybe a bit less useful in CQB and more on long range. I don't think that is what the crewman needs, I think it'd be best to just reduce the ammo. Two spare mags plus the one in the weapon is more than enough to quickly get out of a hot area, and not nearly enough for huge assaults.

Now we only need to find a Mp5 firing .50 BMG and we'll be set.

Z-trooper hits the jackpot in my mind- HK 53 would fit in well especially if you could give it 20 round mag or something.

Standard magazine for the HK53 (and the rest of the HK33 family, excluding the G41) is 25 rounds.

At one time the HK53 was going to become the MEC Crewman weapon, but it was decided to go with the MP5 instead. The 5.56mm NATO round was not used by any other weapon the MEC had in game and the MP5 is also in fairly wide service and license produced in the region.

So by that logic, it wouldn't be hard for them to adapt those MP5 assembly lines to produce HK53s instead. It's not like H&K are going to sue the MEC :D

Personally though, I really don't mind the MP5s current roll in the game.

Not really. The HK53 is not a chambered up MP5, it is an ultra-short HK33.

Hmm, I was lead to believe that it's kind of both those.

Basically, the MEC produces something like 3 bullets for the infantry:

* 9MM for MP5 and the rare pistol
* 7.26mm x 51mm for the G3, HK21E
* Upgraded G3 ammo for the marksman / sniper rifles (higher powered)

To use the HK-53 it would need to produce an entirely new bullet.

And with the reccession they can't afford that.

I think, for the job that it is intented for, the MP5 is perfect for the crewman. You only expect to see enemies within the immediate area of your destroyed/damaged armoured vehicle so it is very, very up close and personal, it's just these crewman squads that give the MP5 a bad name imo. So i agree with the new suggestion coming out of this, that keep Mp5 just give less magazines.

Indeed.. And If they are going to remove or tweak the MP5 from the crewmen they could just aswell do the same for the SA80 Ironsights because they are just as or even more awesome in CQB...

People won´t be happy until you remove every gun from the game or make them have exactly the same deviation and power.

Totally agree with that, and to add into the suggestion. Maybe shorten the MP5's range so that it will only be effective in CQB or up to maybe a distance of 50m or so. I find it quite easy to shoot someone across the street from atop a building.
