Why work on .4 PRMM

Post by ghosty »

We need to focus on 1. PR and get this mod cruising, Don't do the incremental patch things. Build it right! I would rather play .31 or what ever it came out to and wait for 1.PR with the BRITS. With all these mini releases seams to much like EA's game plan, but again EA is very successful. Please don't think this is a flame, this is just an idea so we can have a forum of people putting in there tow cents worth with the DEVs educating us as we go.

if they implement too many changes at once and things go wrong, they will have hardly any chance of sorting the problem.

if they build up in layers then it's a lot easier to see where the problems occur.

plus things/ideas are changing subtley over time

Im not liking some of the small changes in the weapons class, seams I have to get use to it all over again.. but seems everything is going pretty well.. as can be.

The idea is they won't have to release 1.0 and make 1000 patches afterward because people don't like the new gameplay features. By introducing them all slowly, they can get the perfect game ready, then all they need to do is pop in the Brits and we've got ourselves perfection.

Saying that though, I'll probably be in the real British Army before I get a chance to play as them. :D

Well think about it this way. If they're tweaking the weapons now, you only have to slightly get used to it. If they had the huge leap to 1.0, it would be a lot of changes.

Plus, I don't mind not playing as the British right now, the new stuff is fun enough(especially the maps, I'm so sick of vanilla maps!

Mini Mod releases have their most value as an excercise in "shipping" for a first time mod team. There's also a lot to learn as we are trying to change the game play dynamics.

Hopefully 0.4 is the last non British release.

we work on these minimods becasue it brings a huge player base, before the full mod is realsed. If it wasnt for one of the minimods you, yourself would probaly not be here. I know i would not be a Dev for this mod right now if it wasnt for these minimods of PR.

We are working on the brits all the time and they are really i would say 50% of our workload at the mo with the new patch the other 50% but you would have to ask egg about excat numbers :p

I'm glad you guys are doing it slowly and testing as you go. It makes a lot of sense. And it seems to have paid off for you since frankly, I'm more impressed with the way I got my download and installation wizard from you for free than the way I got my Euroforce plug in from EA that I paid $10 for.. Keep up the good work; you've got an appreciative fan over here.
