Mic won't work

My micropohone won't work. I have use windows xp and use soundmax digital audio. My mic will work in all other games I use but not battlefield 2. Every once in a while it will work in Battlefield 2 until I die. When I look on the squad screen and look where you can mute players the speaker and sound waves aren't even there. There is just an empty box.

In game did you try pressing tab, right click to activate mouse and click manage, then mute and unmute yourself? That seems to work most of the time.

Didn't work, wouldn't show a mic symbol in there either so I couldn't mute myself. I maight have to reinstall everything but thats going to be a pain.

I tried reinstalling, same problem, didn't solve anything. Can't figure it out since I have used this mic for BF2 before and it worked, but I had to reinstall it and it hasn't worked for BF2 since.

directx....
go to "RUN" o and write "Dxdiag" , hit OK in the first window
then go to Sound1 .. then put the bar of hardware Sound Acceleration in "Basic"

that should do the work

I had this, did a default on the key assignments and the mic came back.
