A red line for drivers

Post by ma21212 »

Ok if you ever been a gunner / driver for any kind of armor youd know about the problem of the gunner not being able to see all the way down on a hill top. so cant a line be drawn for the driver so he can see how far the gunner can see? im not sure tho if the lines gonna be always right.

I think he means like the gunner view box that pilots have in the attack choppers.

Communication is the key, if the gunner cant see and he needs to shoot something, he needs to speek up.

I think thats because you cant see the gun but with the tank you can see the gun quite happily (usualy its at the front as if its facing behind it can block your view).

Nope, he means a line that indicates how low the corsshairs on the gunner go in comparison to the driver's view.

Unfortunately this changes from vehicle to vehicle so it would have to be added to each vehicle, it would not be realistic and due to the views having different locations on the vehicle they would not always be accurate. This is one of those times where getting used to each vehicles views is the best method.

when what? if your crew doesn't have effective coms you should be punished for it.

thats not what i mean trust me ive been tanking for a long time. but it would help alot if a simple line was thier. would make things much more efficent. im not sugesting this red line for noobs rather to make it a little easyer for an expirenced gunner / driver to focus on other things.

+1 no mic = you shouldn't go in major assets like tanks as they need coms to be utilized properly

For noobs I dont see any big advantage. Theyre gonna die no matter what. Adding a little line makes it easyer for the driver to know what the gunner sees (look at the gunships, the piolt sees what the gunner is lookin at) . Trust me when your in a T72 and you see an Abrams and you cant shoot your gonna panik and start screaming at your driver "MOVE UP I CANT F**** AIM!" then your driver panics, and it all gose down the shiter.

A lot of times I've been gunning and you get that split second coming over a hill when the enemy hasn't seen you yet, and the driver stops in an incline so you can't aim low enough to hit them and you're just sitting there going "lower lower lower lower lower lower lower lower lower lower lower!" and he's confused going "huh?"
"Move forwards! I can't aim that low!"
"Oh, shit, okay!"

And before you know it you've got lazes and missiles flying all over the place.

Besides, the different vehicles have different sights so the "it doesn't work because they can point different amounts" argument kinda fails there.

Maybe you could make it so, that it shows up if you press right click or something.
That way it would simulate the years of training and gained knowledge Jonny mentioned and you wouldnt have the line in your field of view all the time.

The driver needs nothing complicated at all, just a simple small red line drawn on his hud.

Just a red line at the lowest point the gun can aim. Then it's easier to position the tank for the gunner's view.

in real life, you don't have to press a button to talk to the guy next to you (or to take a step forward for that matter).

If the in-game situation was a real world situation where gunner/driver could not effectively communicate without the aid of microphone/ears, you can bet your *** that someone would "affix" a simple cheap easy solution to their window screen/hud...

i do like this idea, i drive alot of armor, and although i do it alot, there are still those times whene im on a 1hill, and i think the gunner can see low enof, but he cant, and it gets us killed becuase i may say target at 254 deg. he looks there, im to high, move fawards, and by the time i moved and he is shooting, we have been spoted and hit...

a little line, i could know if the gunner can see the ground while scanning the area.. especially on hilly terrain where one part if up a little higher, andhe can see what he needs to the front, but to the left say, your a little high, he probbly is not woried about it also, on apc's. lots of time, exspeccially on mututtura, well turn a conrer, and ill say, ON our left!!!! and he will look, shoot a few bullets, and say, no shot, to high... if i could have known that i was a foot to close for him to hit, i would have notified him and moved at the same time.

Or just maybe learn how low gunners can shoot in every vehicle. Its not that hard.

for real? you dont always play with the same people, and even so it would take you a long *** time to learn it. not needed with a simple line that any one can easly use
