guess not, but full auto > 3 burst. the only weapon that can compete with it is SA80 due to it also having full auto, but even then the G3 will put the guy down faster if both shooters are matched.

Kinda bad example, because almost every major army had at least 1 smg in their squads during WW2 (the most notable exception being the Japanese). German squads for example had 2 MP38s/MP40s/MP34ös or EMP35s in their squad, mostly used by the squad leaders as a personal defence weapon. However, in modern warfare this setup is very uncommon, due to the rise of assault rifles.

I think he was refering to that in game every faction really has lower calibre weapons while the MEC are still using higher calibre ones, meaning it would make sense for them to carry one or 2, where as the other factions assault rifle is good for both roles.
