Over-the-Sight Aiming for AR

Post by Acemantura »

As I state here:
acemantura wrote:... crosshairs stuck onto your eyeballs, trained to your gun.

So I guess this comes down to adding a right-click view over and along the ACOG or Elcan, I guess when that is implemented then I wont have to use Red-dot to provide quick accurate fire for my fireteam.

BTW its just a game, it is not ...
I propose we have an over the top sight or simply "Non-Telescopic Sights", along the top of each weapons scope, for AR weapons so that I dont have to resort to placing a red-dot on my screen, each time I play PR, to place quicker more accurate suppression when walking around with the AR undeployed.

The current work around for this is, like I said, to place a red-dot with permanent marker on your screen, precisely marking the center of the screen, or the center of the aiming reticule.

*In paintball, I use something on my weapon that closely follows where my paintball will go instead of the sights. In this case the easiest thing that would resemble that, is the scope itself.

Thoughts?

(I'm feeling a bit redundant today)

Out of the whole community your the only one who cant shoot without something telling you where your weapon shoots? Whatever you do, NEVER join the military or anything else requiring you to shoot. You wont be a ble to put a dot in front of you to tell you where your shooting. This is Project Reality, not Project Handicapped.

I think it's terrible, and that you can't aim.

Nah, I'm just kidding. Seriously though, get rid of the dot; that's failsauce.

USE THE FORCE! It's how I do it, and I'm a pretty good player, if I do say so myself.

From what I recall, of the scopes in game only the SUSAT has an over-scope aming thing, and it's really crude.

As for EoTech, they've been re-suggested so many times it makes my head spin, and they failed to win contracts with the USMC or US Army for collimating sights. See: Aimpoint.

I'm not talking about aim-points or any added picatinny goodies.

I'm talking about a place where you know is the center of your screen, analogous to looking down my barrel in Paintball. No added goodies, just a new right-click view

Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Muffin...you are telling me that you play with your eyes closed? Or that you hack to shoot your target. Everyone uses something to know where they shoot: Crosshairs, sights, and even the center of the screen--which by no means is realistic, and this is exactly my point.

This is a game brought about with the idea of realism in mind.

A GAME brought about with the idea of realism in mind. this is still a game and you are seriously nutty if you think this game accurately resembles the tactile response in real life, with respect to the AR.

Now I realize you may be a bit sore about my clan beating your's on that first round, but your clan returned with an excellent rebuttal on the second round. Please keep your personal feelings out of this.

Elvish and especially goguapsy, get back on topic, or just keep your feelings to yourself.

This was recently PM'ed to me by Deathangel_321boom:
could you post this in your thread about sights, it wont let me as i have too low a post count!

The SUSAT sight and various versions of the acog scope and some do have ironsights or even red dot scopes on top for short range acquisition, but modding them in is hard work. To not aim at all you shouldn't have help, its inaccurate and should be CQC only anyway. I dont find there to be a massive problem of hitting short-ish range targets, either you can zoom in or dont, or choose a weapon with red dot and use bino's at range.
In ARMA there is a mod called A.C.E which allows sights such as applicable acog variants to shift to use alternate sights by pressing shift-f, as well as sniper rifles to adjust for range.
However the bf2 engine is from what Ive read just not capable of this effectively...
Deathangel, first, thank you for contributing positively, however I am not looking for a new sight, I am simply looking for a new right-click view for the AR, and possibly if using up weapon slots isn't an issue (It is), for other scoped weapons as well.

The second part of that isn't really relevant as I am happy with the transistion (right-click) and deviation times with all scoped assault rifles (I particularly rock with the unscoped G3...that was off-topic a bit).

Summary: I'm just looking for a line of sight, sight. Does that make sense?

imo the normal undeployed "right click" view is good enough, unless you want to be in undeployed mode and hit the target on your first shot.

what i usually do with undeployed is start shooting and then adjust left, right, up, down by the direction the tracers are going or how far the bullets hit away from the target... because lets face it you have enough ammo in that automatic rifle to keep firing for 10 seconds minimum.

further more i would take the oppertunity to propagandate: Less one-shot Kills, More Surpression Fire! :firing:

Dude... seriously?

So, your telling us to REVERT back to BF2, with the crosshairs in the middle. I mean thats what im getting out of this.

Use ur sights, thats what its there for. If you have to hip fire, ur not supposed to have an EXACT location of ur bullets, just a general direction, that being the middle of ur screen.

Get that red dot off ur screen and play like the rest of us. I cant believe you even posted this.

PS: the ace mod thing you suggested, i know it. Its nothing more than the SAME EXACT thing as you just right clicking to put ur sights up.

If you have a certain sight, there is a little line on top of that sight, and thats all the shift V does. There are some more complex sights there that switch you to another sight, but all and all, its still exactly the same thing.

Just to clarify. Are you suggesting this, because when in an acog mode you cant see whats around you and you want an outside view to see more? Or are you just such a bad shot that you cant even aim with a Reddot, or a scope?
