Moving shots should be very possible, but it should require some practice.

After a while you just "automaticly" know how much to lead by, juding by the target's size, direction of movement and speed

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
Well, let's say, almost any untrained person can hit a stationary torso target at 100-150 m from a prone position even with an iron sight, with any automatic rifle, even an AKM (AK-47), from my humble experience.
A moving target is much trickier, though. But still, hitting it at least once in 2-4 careful shots from 100 m is quite realistic, even more so for a trained soldier. So I guess that 25%-50% is quite reasonable.
I hope you mean 0-100% of shots made, not 0-100% of encounters with a moving target, right?

Assuming your target is quite far away and its moving quite randomly, you have 50 % to hit him.

Re: [Poll] How easily should you hit a moving target?
So you mean you should be able to hit a moving target 70% of the time.frrankosuave wrote:I "should" be able to hit a moving target 100% of the time. Maybe not with every bullet but with 7 out of 10.
I voted 25% because there was no 36.7% option.
Yes, a very low number but I think I'm being more of a realist then anyone who voted for 100%. Even with a lot of skill and tons of experience - in real life a moving target is difficult to hit. I do not engage a moving target unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Assuming you had read the first post of this thread, the range in question is 100 meters.SarafanPriest wrote:Assuming your target is quite far away and its moving quite randomly, you have 50 % to hit him.

IRL, its extremely hard to hit a moving target, even for a trained professional. 25% seems likely. Seriously, your not going to hit a moving target 3/4 or 1/2 of the time. If you fire 4 bullets, you probably will hit once. Thats reasonable for realistic targeting.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
What are you all, the spawn of Vassilli Zeitzeff? 100% at 100 Meters on a moving target? Now if you're talking multiple shots we're getting better but still...one hundred percent? lol. It totally depends on who you are. If you're me you'd probably hit that target somewhere around 80 ish percent, but I'm WELL above average in the shooting department, probably the best shot in my unit. However, if you're bucktooth sally from Yuetville, Tennesse who thinks she doesn't have to pay attention to BRM because she's from the south and naturally shoots perfectly (yes I'm pulling this straight from someone I've met in the Army) then you're down to about 30%.
Now lets add in explosions. Fatigue, sweat hitting your eyes, smoke, the fog of war, and religious hesitation (not everyone is religious but nearly everyone hesitates to kill a fucking man) and all the sudden hitting that target is much harder.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
I say 100% on my vote only because its closer to 90%, which is my true thought. I have never been in combat, but during training at Ft Benning, we went to one of the ranges that was popup/ moving targets. At 100 meters it was pretty easy to hit the target which was moving at a pretty good pace, prolly 9 to 11mph (an average person's sprint) With 0 ping, you are making the assumption that it is real as possible results. Factor in your 4 fundamentals of marksmanship to in game deviation and I'd say its a 90% chance give or take 2%.

I find it much easier to aim, shoot & hit the target irl than I do in-game.

Re: How easily should you hit a moving target?
guys the poll isnt for "every time you engage a moving target at 100" its "each shot you take"
i can tell by most of your posts that you mean you can hit the target for sure by the end of the engagement, but that's obvious unless you're really unlucky or really that bad a shot.
the kind of answer the question is begging for though is for each individual shot, so each time you fire what chance do you have that it will hit? so if you fire 10 shots during the engagement and 2 hit, thats a 20% chance that the shot you are currently taking will hit. NOT 100% with 2 out of 10
my answer lies somewhere around 25-50% depending whether the player is running or walking. (this is of course assuming he is running 90 degrees to my sight line and not coming straight at me, THAT would be 100%) Also taking into account that i am fully settled regardless of vertical angle or stance. just the other day i spotted an IDF squad walking under my balcony in Beirut and i head shot the last guy in the formation with a single shot. (this % does not take into account the BF2 hit registry as i have no idea what the numbers for that are.)

lol thats cause in real life you dont have to deal with deviation and crappy hit box registryTeufel Eldritch wrote:I find it much easier to aim, shoot & hit the target irl than I do in-game.
