# Hard-code refers to the software development practice of embedding data directly into the source code of a program or other executable object, instead of obtaining that data from external sources such as a configurations file or command-line parameters.

Actually, it's more on the part of EA that the game is screwed up. The original DICE team that worked on 1942 quit just a few months ago. They got fed up with EA's bullcrap, giving them demands and ultimatums that they barely had enough resources or time to complete. They all agreed to quit at the same time, and EA had to scramble for a bunch of codemonkeys who probably have no idea how to use a map editor. I mean, come on, it's evident that the replacement team doesn't know how to test their games...
They don't meet the IQ requirements for the "Basic Beta Tester Badge". "At your current rate, you will receive this badge in: 15425534 days."
Anyway, hardcoded values are a ***** to work around if they happen to be included in an encrypted or compiled program. It's pretty damned hard to bypass a hardcode, mainly because it overrides any countervalues you punch in. So have a little patience and maybe some faith in the dev team... they're doing the best they can.

A few months ago was still nearly a year after the completion of the game.....which means it's still the original DICE team's fault. I don't want to stretch this off topic, so please don't reply to this.

If you see what EA did to westwood then you can see that the same is happening to the oringal DiCE team.
as for the hard coded stuff, some of it just has to be hard coded but if the ppl who made the game really wanted it to be fully mod friendly they could have doen alittle bit more to it to make it so that more parts where veribal.
Let me do an analogy. The BF2 engine is an ice cube tray. BF2 is a standard ice cube. Most mods go for the option of adding new features, such as changing the flavour of the ice to make it 'better' than BF2. This is possible. When people ask for stuff like "Hey, I want a circular ice cube!", that's not possible because the ice cube tray is hardcoded to produce square ice cubes. Get it? The only workaround in this case would be to completely rework the 'engine', or to create one from scratch with circular ice cubes in mind. And just like many of these features recommended such as "circular ice cubes", it's not really worth changing everything just to incorporate them, 'cause frankly it doesn't make that much of a difference.
Excuse all that, it's been a scorching day so ice seemed relevant.

still, dice officialy belong to ea after they completed bf2, and also, their team in canada is making most of the stuff (except the main game), like the patches and so on.
also, they could have released a much more capable mod tool, but they decided against it. it really isn´t (only) ea´s fault

VERY GOOD ANALOGY! I'm laughing and agreeing at the same time, it's damned funny.

Because they don't want to make the life easier on those ppl that work to take away EA/DICE's candies...get it? candies?..
I have the Perfect solution... We build our own PR-dedicated warehouse (complete with kitchen) in Malaysia, where we get billions of old people to meet evey suggestion sent to the warehouse. Once our supermod is complete, we challenge EA to a knife fight, only in this knife fight were in a ring of fire, surrounded by polar bears riding unicycles that juggle monkeys, who are in turn, juggling rocket launchers that shoots ice cream.
