PR not installing under VISTA 64 bit (and telling me to use a 64 bit version)

Post by AdumbroDeus »

Trying to install Project Reality on Vista and it's not letting me install:

Yes, I'm running as Administrator, yes, I'm running in compatibility mode, yes I've updated punkbuster, and Battlefield 2 works fine (having some issues installing special forces though, but that's another issue) but it refuses to initialize the installer for PR, I get the message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your Computer's system information to see whether you need a an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I was under the impression that the installer was for both 32 and 64 bit (and if there's a 64 bit version that I just missed, I'll be very embarrassed lol but I checked pretty thoroughly and searched the forum and nadda).

Here's my system specs:

nvidia Geforce GT 130M
4 Gb RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1 GHz 800 MHz FSB
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe you got a corrupted download? I'm using vista home premium 64 and it worked fine for me.

Looks like that was it...

So now it's giving me the "invalid CD key" error, great...

Ok fixed it, credit to engineer for the fix, might as well post it:

1. Click Start.
2. Go to Run.
3. Type regedit and hit OK button.
4. Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
5. Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
6. Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
7. Double click on EA Games folder.
8. Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
9. Double click on ergc folder. NOTE I HAD TO CREATE THIS
10. Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
11. Right click on it and select Modify.
12. Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)
