[Minimod] CA Combined Arms - Latest v0.9973 Hotfix

Post by Sniperdog »

Just wanted anyone who is going to be coming to the Combined Arms test today that they will need the .9973 Hotfix. If you already have some form of .997 installed then all you need to do is download this installing hotfix to make your version official. With this Hotfix we've taken care of all known major crashing issues we've came across. We would like to have as many people as possible show up, it will be at 2:00 PM (14:00) EST or 6:00 PM (18:00) GMT Today (Sunday, September 27, 2009). Here are all the links:

If you have downloaded any version of .997 and installed it (this includes versions .997, .997b and .9972) then you can just install this small hotfix. It is only 43 MB in size.

.997/.997b/.9972 -> .9973 Hotfix:
Filefront: Download Combined Arms .9973 Hotfix.msi
MegaUpload: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

If you haven't downloaded any version of CA yet get the download here:

.9973 Full Installer:
Filefront: Download Combined Arms .9973 Installer.msi
MegaUpload: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

If you are interested in hosting a server then get the server files here:

.9973 Server Files:
Filefront: http://www.filefront.com/14609769/pr...er%20Files.rar
MegaUpload: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Finally If you have a mac (lol) or linux (respectable) and cant open .msi files then get the manual files here and drag pr_ca into your battlefield 2/mods folder and the shortcut to your desktop.

.9973 Manual Install Files:
Filefront: http://www.filefront.com/14609815...73%20Manual%20Install%20Files.rar
MegaUpload: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Thank you for the support everyone I hope you have a good time at the test :)

I don't see why you guys continue to post topics about Combined Arms in the General Discussions sub-forum when they clearly keep getting moved to the Community Modding sub-forum...

Do you want more views or something? There's a reason they keep getting moved. It's not because the PR team doesn't want people to notice, it's because it's not where the topic at hand belongs.

Combined Arms is a modification for PR, and thus doesn't necessarily belong in the sub-forum discussing PR. I don't know if it's sheer ignorance or coincidental negligence. It's just a bit irritating from my point of view and I'm sure from the moderator's; whom have to constantly move them as well.

Oh, and impressive work so far.

I belive that not everyone visits that section much.
[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto:"Cheers, you're the man, Okita"
[R-DEV]Rhino:"I in fact got kicked from a server for tking."
Hitperson:"well done, treasure it forever."

Only things that are unfinished in this mod is the cockpits of some new jets, light vehicles' suspension/acceleration, and... I think that's it.

The mod is fine in terms of functionality. The only map that seems to have problems is Seethed Waters, and that's most likely going to be fixed soon.

If you have a problem, join the Xfire CA group and bug people with [CA] next to their name to try and get your problem fixed.

This game is pretty close to finished, all major game breaking bugs are fixed, etc. The only thing that might be an issue is the light vehicles, the cockpit of the jets do not affect functionality in any way. So try it for a good while, then pass judgement.

Anyhow, if you want to see reduced deviation, FCS, radar, loitering out of the combat zone, then download CA 0.9973, and join a server to test it out yourself, no other way to know if you think it would work for sure.

Savage the problem is that we were told that we could put them into the Discussion Area, and they keep getting moved, so this is a misunderstanding between the moderators. If we were told "no" then we wouldn't have posted them.

Both download locations yield an installer with a corrupt 'disk1.cab'. Any similar issues?
.9973 Full Installer, clean PR .87 install and BF2 1.5 install.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

I am looking into it right now but regardless we have had quite a few downloads of the full installer with nobody having such an issue and I myself have already tested the installer to ensure its functionality. What OS do you have? Give me a little more info if you could. If you want to talk on xfire my username is sniperdog.

Also if your willing to sit through a long download then downloading the manual install files may be your best option. All you do is extract the pr_ca folder into your EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods folder and extract the Combined Arms 0997 icon to you desktop. Done... (Surprisingly that whole concept is to complicated for quite a few people out there which is why we switched from doing this to simply making installers)

PS. looks like our threads get our own custom [mini-mod] tags now... nifty :D

@ Fuzzhead from the previous thread....
That is very strange the installer should give you an option right at the beginning to select the path you want to take. But then again we've had on and off issues with the installers with certain people as this is only a free version of Advanced Installer. I dunno what PR uses but I'm sure its a little less finnicky. Ye so Manual Install is probably the best option... that's why its there :P

Manual Install worked fine, thanks.

Looks like having problem connecting to server though, crashing out when I try to join.

I would say run in windowed mode but I assume you already did that and its probably a file missmatch, though I would make sure directories are all correct if you have the .9973 version, server should be on .9973 now anyway.

I dunno why but something with your files is corrupted I think :P . I would try installing the .9973 hotfix. It will ensure that your objects folder is synced properly with those of the server files. It can only help :) . Sorry this is so much trouble for you... its really wierd :(

I like how CA is shaping up.
There's some known bug issues.
Definately needs more maps though.
