Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
I am addressing the issue of the nerfed littlebirds/choppers. They are simply to weak to fight technicals.
A technical can disable a littlebird with 6 bullets, just 6 50cal bullets will bring it down or disable engines.
To Kill a technical it takes 180 to 190 mini gun rounds. This is far to many, in reality 20 mini gun rounds would make a technical into a smoldering reckage.
A black hawk will go down if it takes 15 technical 50cal rounds. Which is sad, because Blackhawks are heavily armored.
I am askin the devs to please change the choppers back to what they were in .85 . They were perfect flying machines and they could take damage and still make it back to the pad.
Choppers in .85 were as good as it gets, they didnt need to nerf them or change it so you can crash land when your engines go out
Please make this game more fun for pilots. Thank you
Or Just make LBs as fast as the Lynx was !!!!! 650 km regular speed !!!!

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
the problem imo is that the attack choppers disable very very easily
either make it so they don't disable as easily or increase the HP so that its nearer to the trans choppers. Though I would think the choppers like the havok and apache would get significantly more HP than the LB.
I'm finding that apaches got down very easily on basrah PRSP for example.

i agree with the op. and make the glass bulletproof. i remember getting hit by small arms fire inside the apache.

You are aware that the littlebird is firing 7.62mm? Short of a lucky hit to the gas tank/line you're really reaching here unless you can provide some sources.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
20 minigun rounds equal the same as 20 rounds off a M4 or a M16 since they both use the same rounds, does that seem to make sense?
And 15 rounds dropping a blackhawk seems completely realistic since 50.cals well... they are supposed to penetrate armour and just a few good hits to a engine should take down any chopper.
Oh and about the littlebirds i think it seems completelty real since the LBs dont seem to be the thugh heavy assault vehicle, guess thats why the attack helicopter version of the littlebirds is supposed to operate at night when the small copter is hard to spot

Have you ever flown in Cayuse?
Its a civilian general aviation aircraft thats made out of coke can (figure of speech) and its very light. Payload isn't much either. It could only carry 4 average weight adult maximum plus fuel. So you can imagine if it has a 2 heavy minigun and or rocket pods you don't have opening for any armor. And those flexi glass used in aviation isn't bulletproof. It's very similar to your plastic safety glass (one that you wear on shooting range) and it will smash when you hit a small bird while flying.
As for Blackhawk armor, we never found any source about what kind of armor it has. Maybe it's classified like information about M1 Abraham armor. But I highly doubt it can withstand .50 caliber.
I have read in news that, when a Cobra was shot downed by Insurgent using those .50 cal techincal thing in real life, military spokesman said Cobra armor can not withstand close range fire of rifle of that size. So I'm guessing most likely not for Blackhawk.
As for Blackhawk / Cobra window armor capability, I highly doubt Blackhawk has any armor capability on its windows. I'm not sure about Cobra. Its possible for such aircraft with such purpose (Attacking) to have some ballistic resistance property. But then, we can't find any reliable information about these.
P.S. Isn't it unusual for only Minigun to have ricochet effect? We don't get ricochet effect from firing squad full of G3 at same target right? (which makes same rate of fire with same ammunition)

Youre actually making a very good point there, im not sure but i could guess they don't use them allways... could someone have a check what rounds they use in miniguns on helicopters?Colonelcool125 wrote:Unsourced claim ahead:
I thought they loaded those miniguns with incendiary rounds. Those would tear a technical to shreds.

All we need is choppers to go back to .85 models, they took wayyyyy more damage.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
In 0.85 some hueys were bugged and were practically impossible to take down as they had huge amount of HP:s and no disabled state.
IMHO i aggree that they are too weak, i haven't flown in few versions but i'm usually allways on the 50cals.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
Some weird facts going around here. No, 7.62 isnt the same as the M4s 5.56, and no, a whole squad of G3 can´t put down near the same rate of fire as a mingun...
But no car is going to survive 6000 rounds per minute of 7.62, it might not detonate but its not going anywhere...
Problem in PR is the ROF in deviation isn´t right on it.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
I think rather than giving the LB more hitpoints, the devs should consider just making it faster. The LB is so much slower than the other choppers its unreal. I mean the damn thing actually ascends at a faster rate than it moves forward.
I think this would be more realistic, because the choppers will still be downed just as easy, but they will have a higher chance of survival because they would be able to outrun them.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
1. The AH-6 is easy to take down IRL it's a very lightly armored aircraft. A few .50 rounds would take it down, 6 may be a little on the low side but it wouldn't take much. However it gains an advantage in the fact that its a small target and should be hard to hit if the pilot keeps moving fast.
Now the AH-6 Mounts 2 7.62 Miniguns and 14 Rockets. These guns will not turn a technical into a smoldering wreck at the flip of a switch. However what they should do is turn the people inside the technical into swiss cheese. The rockets however should end the poor little technicals miserable existence.
2. The UH-60 is not an Armored aircraft, it is not designed to absorb ground fire like attack helicopters. Small arms fire will go through UH-60s quite easily, the exceptions being the cockpit has armor to protect the pilots and the fuel tanks are armored.
Now the UH-60 has the same mini guns mounted on the AH-6 so they should do the same amount of damage. IE the technical should remain operational but the people in side should be very dead very quickly.

Well thermis can you please make the LBs go faster, 400km is really really slow, the techs can actually keep up with the LBs. If they were to go faster , say around 650 to 700 km , it would even things out. Make the Killer bee have a strong sting and alot of agility

Does anyone else think this is a bit mad? A bog-standard civilian pickup truck remaining in working order after being hit by two miniguns?! The twin streams of lead would totally shred the engine, cooling system, drivetrain and pretty much anything else it came into contact with.
I have also noticed that in singleplayer Vodniks (woop yes they still have them in SP!) take an inordinate amount of minigun fire to destroy.
The miniguns also need to fixed so that they have deviation instead of splash damage.

Re: Littlebird VS technical unbalanced insurgency
A 7.62 round wouldn't pierce the engine block, it may flatten a tire or raise hell with the transmission, I don't think it would throw the drive train. You have to remember that the minigun is going to pepper the technical, so maybe only a few rounds will hit in the critical areas.StuTika wrote:Does anyone else think this is a bit mad? Not my area, but you have to remember little birds can go over builds technicals can't go through themstealth420 wrote:Well thermis can you please make the LBs go faster
