Which one of the insurgents weapons is 47 or 74?

I recall that the upper is 47 and lower is 74

I use the AK-74U or whatever the compact version is when I am an insurgent. Between the 47 or the 74 I choose the 74 because I think it looks cooler.

Okay, since there is a little confusion, here a list of all AKs ingame:

AK-47 - Wooden Stock, Black Mag - lots of damage but poor accuracy
AK-74 - Wooden Stock, Orange-Brown Plastic Mag - Lower damage, more accurate on distance
AKS-74U - Carabine Weapon with Foldingstock, same damage as AK-74, less accurate, faster drawtime
AK-74M - All Black Weapon used by the russians, basicly identical to the AK-74, should be more reliable, if we would have weapons jamming, than the Ak-74

IRL I would prefer the Ak74, in-game I use both, but the AK47s iron sights are better.

AK-47 and 74 accuracy are about the same on the first shot, but the 74 is much better after that. The AK-47 (probably an AKM in reality, but it makes little difference) fires the 7.62X39 'Russian short' rifle round. That's a big fat bullet which packs a mighty punch, but it has a buttload of recoil.

The AK-74 and AK-74m fire the 5.45X39 rife round, more comparable to the NATO 5.56mm bullets. It's thinner than the other round, but more accurate and lighter, it does however pack a lot less of a punch.

So basically it's a tradeoff, for short range spraying and medium range hard hitting take the 47, for long range accuracy and medium range suppression take the 74.

I used to take the AK47 over the 74 any day before 0.86 and its lowered accuracy (which is a good thing IMO). Since 0.86 I use the 74 but still like the AK47 as Chechen squad leader (ironsight), especially on Mestia.

my advice is, take the AK-74u(the small compact one) and dig a very big hole and bury it, it got huge recoil which courses it to buck so you constantly have to readjust your aim compensate for the recoil this Takes time too much time then you can afford and will get you killed.

AK-47 has a big punch but is very inaccurate. Which is meaningless if you can't hit your target.

AK-74 is by far the best chose you have, you will score more hit's with it then any other AK version which is what you want Accuracy and range both of which the 74 will provide, it has good sights as well.

The round it uses does not have as much punch as the 7.62, but it enough especially if you double tap.

If you have trouble taking down people with it, it usually the fault of hit req and not the round. Always’s maintain your hit reg, and do what ever it takes to make it read correctly.

You want hit the register on the first hit, you don’t what to have to shot people multiple times in order to take them down.

Lies Rhys, lies. The AKS-74u is still the best short range weapon in PR, adjusting for recoil is easy, you just pull the mouse down whilst firing and observe as your enemy receives an entire magazine of bullets into his sternum.

I'll take the AK74 any day, because the AK47 fails with hitbox detection on high ping servers due recoil and deviation.

Seconded. It used to be effective, but not in an exploitive way. I hardly use it now
