Continuous PR problems/FIXED!

I have continuous problems with PR, all seem to vary. Getting kind of desperate here.

I play a fully updated PR, including the alt+tab fix and fully updated PB on high settings on my laptop with Vista. When PR works, it works fine. It often doesn't work though.
Here's a list of everything that went wrong for the last month or so, with my 'fixes':

- Initially, PR works fine.

- Suddenly PR would CTD within 5 minutes of playing.
> reinstalled PR

- PR wouldn't start up (nor would BF2), it said: 'PR.exe stopped working'.
> reinstalled BF and PR completely.

- same problem as above, PR.exe stopped working. BF2 worked though.
> reinstalled PR.
- PR works fine, although it crashes randomly when I'd have anything virusscanner-related on.

- As of 10 minutes, PR isn't starting up at all anymore. The screen goes black for a second, then I'm back at my desktop.

I feel somewhat reluctant to reinstall it all again as I doubt it'd ever work. Does anyone have a proper solution?

EDIT:
It says 'PR.exe stopped working' again now, after the black screen thing.


A little info as well:
Laptop: Toshiba Satellite 350A.
Processor: Intel (R) Core 2Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHZ.
Graphic card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
Runs Crysis on high.

In game textures set to 'HIGH'
Set the textures to medium.
I'm not sure why this makes a difference with high-end cards that can run games like Crysis
on high quality settings with no problem at the same res,
but for some reason it can matter in Project Reality with Vista.


Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Run PR in 'windowed' mode
If you still have problems
run PR in 'windowed' mode to see if any error messages come up
(instead of running in full screen, it runs in a 'window')
To do so
Right click on shortcut.
Choose properties from bottom of list.
Modify the text in your shortcut's 'target' window.

Change
+fullscreen 1
to
+fullscreen 0

Then Google or use 'search' on Project Reality web page for the error message you get.
