Nah..., eyecandy only goes so far.

IMHO PR has a very good combo of depth and variation, those other new games - it's gonna be all USMC vs baddies, right? That theme has been done to death...

Well, hopefully PR2 will at least sit at a 64 player minimum as stated in the FAQ, but when you put 128 players into the mix you have to account for vehicles and all that, as well as having all your servers up to scratch to handle it. Don't get me wrong, if we can get some full sized combined arms maps in PR2 with 64 players per team (or more!) in there we will probably have an even stronger community.

I find small servers (like that of COD4) divide communities up as people just hit and play on the one with a slot available.

To tell you the truth, I could deal without destructible terrain/buildings in favor of larger player limits. Also, I'm assuming Project Reality 2 will begin with the British forces to start off with (a very smart financial move as well, people love change) and then add different factions as we go? Also, are the DEV's open to help from people if we manage to buy the license to C4 engine?

Something nobody accounts for is that Project Reality, unlike many other games, is as a whole a community. What other games exist where large numbers of people work together by default? I highly doubt you will find one in today's market. PR does and will fill a niche far into the future so my confidence in them continuing work and actually doing well with it is set in stone.

8. How much will it cost?
Right now we don't know. It will likely be sold via subscription, hopefully through Steam. Yes, Steam can suck, but it has a lot of great infrastructure for PC sales and distribution. It'll be something like $3 per month or $30 for a year subscription in advance. Again not definite, we'll figure that out over the coming months.

Sniper_dog14 wrote:Why doesn't EA just up the darn player count limit... From what I've heard (take it as is) it wouldn't be incredibly hard for them to do. When they were originally developed the game they designed it to be functional for higher player counts so they would be able to release it at 64+ if it was stable. At the time they decided to stick to 64 but now with better PC's and better high speed internet infrastructure it really doesn't seem unreasonable for them to release a max player limit increase patch or unlock it for modders. Stupid EA >.>
One cant just assume that upping the player count will instantly improve the game like so many seem to think, the implications I am sure for 128 players would not only obviously be pushing the net-code but wood be likely to limit maps in terms of networkables etc which overall would lessen the experience for me personally. 64 Is fine, just adding more players simply doest make a game good.

Because they can't make new effects. They take the existing effects and modify them into what we have now.

IIRC, FH2 Style scopes can't be made because that effect is being used for the tank gunners sights .

Dealing with a hard package distributor vs a software base. While were are not even close to talking about either a majority of us do like the idea. You own personal problems with steam might be fixed by that time....or we might have the cash for a hard copy.

Dont really worry about how you will get PR2, when we cross that bridge we will talk to the community.

Without doing it through a major supplier it will be a little difficult. For a small independent game starting off I doubt PR will be able to sell game cards etc.

And whats wrong with paying digitally? Unless mommy refuses to pay for you with her credit card I really see no problem. Even then there's ways around that, just pay through BPAY etc. - and it's not like you can go to the store right now and find a copy of PR. Over the internet is the way to go.

I actually think most of you don't like steam because you need something to complain about. It wouldn't suprise me one bit.

I think its dated but it was born out of BF2 and unless they want to branch off while still keeping PR in Bf2 engine thats up to them.. what could happen is that there could be a Final release of PR for BF2 and then they can work on mods for other engines. and go it from there..

if pr2 has a monthly fee im not buyin it. but they should look into putting mumble in pr by default. or maybe it would be better to just add larger player limit.. since obviously ppl who use mumble have the spare network capabilities :)

Can somebody make a sticky reading:

Nobody gives a damn if you aren't going to pay for PR2. Thus, comments stating your severe discontent for actually having to pay for products and services, like normal human beings , are irrelevant....and a complete waste of time...

With all due respect of your views (regardless of everyone elses responses) if its worth it, its worth it.
I can understand not buying a game you don't like, but not everything in life is free.
And the few games that are free, more or less not as good. Sadly even the games companies charge premium for are not as good these days. So why not support an amazing game that will last you for a VERY LONG TIME?!

What your doing with the money is supporting an Indie game for future development and paying for overhead costs.
And your asking for more players, so if they were to look into that, that costs time, time costs money.

Please educate yourself before you decide to post.

I have not slept yet, so anyone care to correct me at all?

Thats all just speculation as well...

30 is HALF what a NEW[crapped out pile of rubbish] game costs these days, for which people tend to happily dish out for ;)

haha so seconding that
i wouldn't mind paying 3 or 5 bucks a month for the game its not alot for a game that isnt frustrating or annoying and isnt filled up with morons who need a voice program that keeps telling them how to breath in and out

the FAQ missed out on
will punkbuster be incorporated as the anti cheat program :)

Ugh the people moaning about having to pay are just worthless idiots. I don't think we need them in PR anyway, I certainly won't be sad to see you go. I'd be very happy to pay as much as £15 a month. Over the moon, in fact. As far as the player limit goes, and I'm sure there's a reason behind this, but why is everyone so hooked on 128 players? Why does it have to be a multiple of 8? If the network can't handle 128, why not go with 100? or 80?
