When I try and download this new patch on my new computer it says I need to download v0.86 first i've been looking every where for it and I can't seem to find it, could someone link me or any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Uhh well I downloaded the v0.86 and put it where I think i'm supposed to. and when i try to put .87 in there it still says I need to download the other one. it's driving me nuts can someone please help, oh btw i got bf2 through steam.

i suggest you consult the installation guide, link in my sig
you probably want the newest version which is .87
you should just download the .87 CORE and LEVELS and follow the instructions step-by-step
(you only need the .86 to .87 patch if you actually have PR.86 installed already)

Where is BF2 installed when using steam? I noticed it was on there the other day. Didn't look at the price, though.

i am not aware of Steam selling BF2
EA has its own Steam-like software called "EA Download Manager" / "EA Link"
steam usually installes 3rd party software into "Steam\SteamApps\common"
